Summary

In this epic culmination of the series, in a war in which thousands are dying, Desil must protect the only thing that can stop the massacre. But there is little he can do with only two allies. They must somehow elude their many enemies while figuring out how to unite their comrades, who face seemingly insurmountable challenges of their own. There is no room for error, no time to hide. The only way success even seems possible is with a plan that might just destroy part of Desil’s world.

a well rounded conclusion

I enjoyed listening to the third installment in the series. The flow of the narration was nice & although lacked in less action than previous books it was still very substantial & interesting to listen to. some sad & sweet moments.

Kind of fizzled out.

Wrapped up the story, but felt kind of rushed. Some of the stronger elements from the first and and second were just curbed, to be passively ended with a sentence or two. Making some of the challenges that the characters had gone through feel like they were inconsequential. Perhaps intentional but had the side effect of making character development feel superficial.

Over all not bad but didn't really hold up as well as the 1st and 2nd near the end.

Very Pyforial

After a slow start in Book 1, Books 2 and 3 really started to pick up. The group of rebels are a mixed bunch. You have Princess Beatrix, who secretly has feelings for Kirnich, her protector. Desil, who is loathe to hurt anyone, even when they are fighting to kill him. He has feelings for Leida, who is also loathe to harm a sole. Then there is her father, Basen, who wants to stop the war, but will betray Desil, Beatrix and Kirnich.

I found Desil to be a weak character to cast as a hero and did not really warm to him at all.

On the whole, I enjoyed this trilogy and am not sorry to use 3 credits it, which was narrated brilliantly by Simon Vance

sub standard

I expected more from the 3rd book but the book dragged and I found it difficult to finish. some action at the end as you would expect but I was disappointed with Desil for not being curious enough with his abililities and experimenting. I like the narrators performance.
