This is my first read from this author and not my usual choice. Picked as the author is local so wanted to give them a try. Overall I think the book is better read than listened to. It requires a concentrated listen as it skips about quite a lot. I restarted it as was soon lost in the first quarter. Parts are quite repetitive too though there are some lovely warm hearted messages in this story.

Not my usual choice.

I enjoyed the dual timeline aspect of Moonlit Maze but struggled with the time-slip element, as fantasy isn’t really my preference. At times, the writing felt overly descriptive, as though the author was trying a bit too hard to be clever, which disrupted the flow of the story. One of the narrators was particularly irritating, frequently mispronouncing words, which pulled me out of the experience. Overall, a mixed read with good structure but not for me.

Overwritten, uneven, irritating narration, disappointing.
