Summary
I didn’t know I was a captive. How could I? I didn’t have my memory. He could have told me anything about the world, and he did.
And I believed him.
Until the day a mysterious stranger showed up, killed the man I’d believed was my husband, and decided to take me with him.
I don’t know what he plans to do with me, but it can’t be anything good.
But hey, at least the world still exists.
The Monster Keeps Me Safe is a dark romance stand-alone with an HEA and no cliff-hangers.
Tropes: mistaken identities, kidnap, contract killer.

This is bad.
I don't understand the amazing reviews for this novel.
This book could have been so much more than what it is. It's a downright shame. I stuck it out waiting for something epic and it all just fell completely flat.
First off, how are you going to promote Teddy Hamilton and he only narrates the prologue and epilogue, that's bull. And the female voice's male narration is absolute garbage, you could have at least had Teddy read the male parts to make it somewhat decent.
Second, the beginning of the novel could have been a badass book in itself. This was obviously the author had a couple of ideas and through them together. The premise makes no sense that an urban explorer killer would happen upon a kidnapped woman and then wouldn't kill her when he IS a psychopath. It's all so dumb. Stick with a theme and go with it. A kidnapped girl in the abandoned theme park is cool, in itself. It's all so annoying. And how does this psychopath feel temporary emotion and pity when he sees her and then following that goes back to this mute and bland personality. It makes no sense. Yes, psychopaths can be charming, but they're in no-way, so hot and cold. Usually, they're always pretty mild tone. So, in general, it always felt like he was a different person and someone else was writing for his dialogue throughout the book. It was downright awful.
Third, it is SO DUMB, she falls for the Stockholm syndrome, commits murder, freaks out, and then they're cuddling in bed together and it just is what it is. I was like...what? I waited for NOTHING! The climax was so dumb, short, rushed, and crap. I can't believe how bad this book is. It's downright garbage. It shouldn't even be published.
I am NOT one of those crazy reviewers that just randomly trash talks, I'm saying if you like actual dark romance, you won't find it here. This was the most dull book I've ever read, HONESTLY.

Great Story and Narration
I've read this story before and really liked it, so thought I'd give the audio book a try. I was blown away by the narration. The story was enthralling and I was fully emersed in it. This is one you won't want to miss.

Complex thriller for your listening pleasure
Warning for sensitive listeners who don’t like dubious consent, this book contains dark themes and dubious consent , the title should give you a clear warning that this book contains a monster , but he’s far more than that.
I enjoyed the underlying story and while Elodie wasn’t my fav character , I enjoyed Shannon and I understood him. The monster and the why he was the way he is was well described in the book , some readers may find him too much , but I got him . I loved the cat and it was a clever way to help explain how Shannon’s brain worked and what made him tick.
This wasn’t my fav KT book and my main reason was the vengeance sought at the end of the book while I got the reason , the second victim just didn’t sit right with me , didn’t make sense based on Elodies character and was a step too far. Considering her nightmares of what happened to her I just don’t see her doing something like that.
Loved Lucy Rivers narrating this , she is my fav narrator from the few looks I’ve listened to. She has a great tone to her voice and does amazing job at pulling you into the story.
A complex thriller with a good dose of Kittylicious sexy time that many will enjoy.

Shannon is my new book boyfriend
Again Kitty gives us wonderful writing and a complex and riveting story line. I was captivated from chapter one. I could not stop listening and became immediately invested in the main characters happiness. I absolutely love love love Shannon and he is my new book boyfriend! No wonder she is referred to as the dark romance genre queen, she surly knows how to write a captivating story. Lucy Rivers narrated this story and she did a great job portraying each character and really bringing them to life. Five hot alpha stars.

Monsters come in many forms
NSFW. Dark and disturbing but also compelling. What does it mean when you are rooting for the monster of the title? How did she do that? This is my first Kitty Thomas story. This poor woman is kidnapped not once but twice! What unfolds is an interesting tale of waking to a bizarre situation and an even more bazaar rescue. [trying not to leave spoilers]. If you are not a fan of dark romance, why are you even looking at Kitty Thomas' books? If you are, I can recommend this one. As an audio book - we can all agree narrators can make or break it. Lucy Rivers, Teddy Hamilton deliver.

Dark and delicious
Like all Kitty Thomas books, this is dark and delicious. And like her other books, it's hard to write a review that doesn't contain spoilers. If you are a newbie, this is a good way to dip your toes into the world of awesomeness that is a Kitty Thomas book. Elodie is a complex character. She has no memories but certain aspects of her character still peek through. There were some interesting twists I wasn't quite expecting. Overall I really enjoyed the book. However the ending seemed a bit abrupt to me. I wasn't quite ready to let the story go yet. But still a very satisfactory read.
Typically I prefer dual narration but the single was perfectly fine for me on this one. It was well performed and easy to listen to.

Fascinating!
This is a rebrand of Tebula Rasa. New name, new cover, and new to me. One I had never gotten a chance to read or listen to before, but am glad I finally did. Elodie wakes up in a pirate ship and doesn’t remember anything. And is told the world is pretty much over as she knows it. That in and of itself is frightening. But that’s not where things end. They once again take another turn for her. And all I’ll say is things get quite fascinating from there. Definitely something you need to grab & read! And also take a listen. Lucy Rivers does a great job narrating this story.

Dark Romance!
This was a great book. I love the dichotomy of both Elodie’s and Shannon’s personalities. And how they learn that they need each other to be a complete person. The narrator does a great job bringing them to life. And I like that she uses appropriate accents for each character. I hate when southern speaking characters don’t have an accent in the audiobook. But Lucy Rivers does it right. If you like dark themed, extreme circumstanced thrillers then this is the book for you

Awesome story
Love the narrator, so good, she done wonderfully as Elodie. Love the amnesia aspect of the story and Shannon was just “chef’s kiss”.
