Summary

“Shh,” he whispered next to my ear. It wasn’t an urgent plea to be quiet. It was a command, delivered with a slight thrust of his hips. He was about to melt my La Perla thong right off me.

Cameron Whitbury is used to engineering her way out of any problem. But someone is after her, and she doesn’t know who or why. Throw in the threat of a sex scandal and the frustrating antics of the entitled son of her company’s founder, and she might be in over her head.

But sacrifice her privacy to an overprotective bodyguard? No thanks. She doesn’t need a six-foot-five, motorcycle-riding, square-jawed, hazel-eyed man-beast shadowing her every move.

Jude Ellis is ready to retire from the cloak and dagger stuff to live a normal life. He doesn’t need another client. Not even one with coppery-red hair and mile-long legs who looks hot AF in a sexy pair of heels.

To appease her worried friends, Cameron hires Jude as her bodyguard. And despite their feisty banter and their rampant - and totally inappropriate - sex fantasies, they’re both determined to keep it professional.

But as the danger to Cameron escalates, the heat simmering between them just might combust.

Author’s note: Big wall-of-man hero with a fierce (and growly) protective streak. Confident and snarky heroine. All the banter. Sex in a closet. And a daring rescue with a big, heart squishing HEA.

A Fun Twist on the Billionaire/CEO Trope

Overall 4 stars Performance 4.5 stars Story 3.5-4 stars This was a great story to get lost in during this time of social distancing. It was a nice twist on the billionaire/CEO trope to have the heroine in that role. I really loved how intelligent and driven Cameron was and the strong female friendships throughout the story. Cameron's banter with Jude was so fun and I loved the build up between them. They both are slow to trust for various reasons and I really enjoyed seeing them let the other in slowly. It certainly didn't hurt that Jude was a big and protective alpha on the outside, but a teddy bear inside either. A certain scene in a storage closet was crazy hot and I might just need to read all the bodyguard romances now. ;) There is a bit of predictable suspense and action and I did feel that the ending wrapped up a little too quickly and neatly, but the epilogue left me smiling and the bonus epilogue was the cherry on top. If you have a chance to read the author's note at the end of the ebook version, I definitely recommend it too. I always find them extremely informative and insightful and wish they could be included on the audiobook. I really enjoyed the narration by Joe Arden and Desiree Ketchum and thought they did a fantastic job bringing Jude and Cameron to life. Joe Arden is one of my favorites and I love how well he can narrate male and female characters. This is my first time listening to Desiree Ketchum and I was pleasantly surprised. I liked her inflection and comedic timing, but I would have liked a little more variation between her characters. Overall, this was just the kind of fun romcom that my heart needed.

Beautiful, Bold Romance!

I loved Cameron and Jude's love story! The audio performance added texture to these characters. They came to life with vivid strokes of the author's words and the narrators' voices. The characters are endearing and bold. This romance has witty banter, sexual tension, and a bit of suspense. The story flows with ease, emotion, and intrigue. Fantastic read/listen!

Superb Story, Wonderful Male Voice Actor, Annoying Female Narrator

The story is amazing, and I’ve already downloaded another of her books! The closet scene - wow! Joe Arden is one of the best male voice actors that I‘ve heard, and I’m a little in love with him, but I seriously want to slap Desiree Ketchum for almost ruining this book! Her whining, nasal, OMG-I’m-trying-to-sound-like-I’m-15 voice, and her tendency to exaggeratedly draw out the last syllable of every phrase almost had me returning the book. I’m thankful she didn’t narrate the whole thing!

The Mogul and The Muscle

Audio: The narration was PERFECT there isn't a single thing I would change. Joe Arden took this amazing book to another level. This was a first listen with Desiree Ketchum, but will definitely be looking for other works. Story: This group of women writing this series is amazing. I love how the story flows seamlessly from Lucy’s TPOS into Claire’s TMTM you wouldn’t know that different authors wrote the stories because the settings and characters flow so well its seamless. For this book itself... AMAZING all the stars! I love how quirky the characters are with their one liners and hints of humor, and they have so much heart. Love love love this book! Can’t wait for the rest of the series.

An absolute must listen!!

I love this series so freaking much!! I read it first in print, so I couldn't wait to listen to it. It was just as amazing in audio! I started listening, and even knowing what was coming, I had a hard time stopping for anything! Cameron and Jude are so HOT!! I absolutely adore that they are both such strong characters. Cameron is fiercely intelligent and independent, and Jude is an alpha protector (with a heart of gold) through and through. I loved watching Cameron and Jude come together, because neither of them really expected it. They weren't really looking for a relationship, but their sparks couldn't be ignored. They are both phenomenal characters on their own, and together they are perfection. I loved watching them both fall, because it brought out a different side in each of them. Jude is the CIA guy with a special set of skills, but he also can't look the other way when someone needs help. I love the way he is able to protect Cameron without making her feel helpless. And I love watching Cameron's walls fall as she begins to let Jude in. Add a fantastic group of friends to their romance and so many laugh out loud moments, and you have an unputdownable (new word, just go with it) combination! This book really has it all. I loved seeing more of Derek and Emily from The Price of Scandal, and getting to know the rest of the Bluewater Billionaires a little bit better! While this series is made of standalones, I don't know how you could read one and not want to dive in with the others immediately! I love Joe Arden, and he didn't disappoint with this one. Desiree Ketchum was new to me on this book, but she did fantastic as well. These two brought Jude and Cam to life perfectly. They brought all the emotions to life, and really became these characters! I wouldn't hesitate to listen to them again and again!

Jude and Cameron are so...hot!

Yes! I loved everything about this book. I had a few laughs, I had a few "WTF" moments, and I had a good ol' swoonfest. Jude and Cameron are just so freaking perfect for each other. They made me laugh. They made me happy. And I did not miss that little Everly and Shepard Easter Egg that was thrown in there. Any fan will love seeing that piece of comedic gold! I loved the narration as well. I think Joe and Desiree captured Jude and Cameron perfectly.

I loved this!!

Its been a while since I've read this one and I'm so glad that that I did the audio book! Desiree Ketchum is quickly becoming one of my new favorite narrators. This was my third or fourth book that she's narrated and she perfectly captures the spirit of the character! Joe Arden is legit what I pictured Jude to sound like, in all his growley sulky glory! Claire wrote a masterpiece here! You get everything, suspense, mystery, heart, wit, sass. Just the perfect combination. Jude Ellis is a hulk of a man! but he's not afraid to admit when he gets hit with the love stick and I love that! Cameron Whitbury is my hero. I legit want to be her when I grow up!

All the Muscles!!!

I listened to the audio as a re-read. The narration was great. This can absolutely be read/listened to as a stand-alone. This second book of this series was so much fun. Jude and Cameron were a dynamic couple. She is an amazing boss lady that is smart and sexy. Jude is everything you want a man to be. I would gladly let him be my bodyguard any day. I love big, alpha, protective heroes and he fits the bill perfectly. Cam is able to turn off and be venerable with him. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one.

Once a spy...

Oh my goodness, the narrators were perfect for this audio book! Joe Arden was amazing as Jude, his sexy voice growling into Cameron's ear was squirm-inducing (in an awesomely good way). I truly enjoy how the suspense builds in this story culminating in a showdown with individuals you would not expect. Jude's many instances of "I could tell you but I'd have to kill you" were both hot and amusing and I loved how he always had the skills to protect Cameron from anything that threatened her physically or threatened her reputation. Claire Kingsley always delivers with relatable characters who have both heart and humor. And it never hurts to have bad-ass spy skills!

Lots of sass, and a lot of heat!

Great story. I loved Cameron and her badass billionaire girlfriends. Jude, the brooding, but very professional and capable bodyguard, has been assigned to guard Cameron. She's had some run-ins that her friends don't think is just bad luck. Turns out, someone's out to harm Cameron. Lots of heat between Jude and Cameron. Her girlfriends are hilarious. Some fast-paced action. And a beautifully drawn out love story.
