I learned so much from this lecture series and found myself re-listening to certain chapters to ensure I’d captured all the facts. What a brilliant book.

Margaret MacMillan doesn't just read her wonderful book to you, she speaks directly to you as a sympathetic teacher with a full mastery of her topic. The Paris Peace conference of 1919 put in place so many arrangements that shaped the rest of the 20th century in Europe and the Middle East. Some of those arrangements are still at the heart of global tensions today. Margaret MacMillan gives you a thorough understanding of the motives and characters driving those negotiations. This is, by far, the most engaging, enjoyable and instructive audiobook I've ever heard. If only they were all as good as this.

Excellent narration of events especially the interplay between the main protagonists each with their competing interests.

Casts a fresh light on negotiations post World War One

Very good and detailed (she shows her knowledge many many times) but I do not agree with her view that Hitler would have got to power in Germany anyway. Hitler certainly fed of the hatred of the WW1 Treaty.
