When I arrive unannounced at my husband's studio in need of a shoulder to cry on after hearing that my best student, Alex, has died, I see a pair of wineglasses drying by the sink, and my deepest fear is confirmed: my husband is having an affair. Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house - but I just can't bring myself to do it. Instead, I go home and cook a healthy dinner for our children, walk the dog, and unload the dishwasher without complaint. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own....

Summary
They live in the big houses on the pretty street. Those other women, as we call them. And to think I used to want to be like them, to have their money and happiness, to live and laugh and play like them. Not any more.
It’s the fourth of July and the whole town is gathered at the local pool. Through the sweltering afternoon, we single mothers don’t mix with the other women - the ones with the perfect lives and happy marriages. Women like Sabine Miller. But when Sabine shoots me a desperate look across the water and suddenly disappears, my blood runs cold....
Running to the back gate, all I find is a gold charm bracelet she dropped on her way out. I convince myself I’m imagining things until Sabine’s husband, Mark, appears. When he realizes she’s missing, he phones the cops straight away. “Someone has been threatening Sabine,” he says. “Now they’ve kidnapped her.”
Hours later, I wish I’d run faster. The whole town is searching the streets, calling Sabine’s name over and over. On the TV, Mark is begging for someone to bring his wife home.
The truth is, I was the last person to see her alive - and it’s killing me inside. Now the cops are at my door asking questions. I’m terrified they’ll find out what happened years ago between me and Sabine. Something I’ve never told anyone.
But I need to tell someone. Can you keep a secret?
From best-selling author Georgina Cross, the most exciting new voice in suspense, comes a twisted psychological thriller about the power and damage of secrets behind closed doors. Perfect for anyone who was totally hooked by The Wife Between Us, Big Little Lies, or Gone Girl.

Waste of my time!
I’m a big fan of crime thriller, but not this one! Really slow pace and boring. Narration was irritating. The attempt to create twisted ending was poorly executed and predictable. The plot doesn’t make any sense! Overall.. shame! It could have been better!

Overly dramatic and far fetched
I laughed a couple times, but not because it was meant to be funny. I didn't enjoy the style or way the story was told at all. The perspectives do not line up for the main character. I bet the narrator is very good at sorry telling, but that, too, was over dramatic for me. I did listen to the whole thing, all the way to the abrupt end. I would not say it's super suspenseful, it's predictable. I do appreciate that it is not full of cuss words and sexual content.

Disappointed
I struggled to finish this book. It seemed there were more details than story. By the time it got to the end I really didn't care how it ended. The narrator was a little over the top for me.

Another so so
Not sure what's going on with these books. Not much of a mystery, no in depth characters. Not about a group of women friends. First half of book is nothing but repeating and going nowhere.

Wow, what a book! Don't miss out!
This was different from the thrillers I normally read but different in a good way. I felt like I was watching a movie as everything played out between Sabine, Erica, Mark and Tish. There were several twists, one in fact will likely make you go back and re-read the passage to make sure you read correctly. The book is very fast-paced and it grabbed and held my attention from beginning to end. I don't know why this book is getting negative reviews but please ignore them and grab a copy. You won't regret it.

The last 2 hours ...
It was ok..... but the dialogue in the last 2 hours is painful!
That being said, I don’t prefer to listen to accents and I’ve gone through 300+ mysteries in Audible. I’m running a bit low, so it is what it is.
