Found it hard to stop listening. Great story with totally relatable characters. Brilliant narration. Couldn’t second guess the twists and turns.

I thought I couldn’t like this book more than The Hunting Party but this has stolen number one for me. Kept me on my toes and constantly guessing and I didn’t find myself bored of one character’s POV like you normally find in multi pov story’s!

I suppose you have to make allowances for the genre. A rambling and unlikely tale of revenge incorporating a variety of familiar cliches: the vicious, entitled children of the lord of the manor, the earthy, occult practices of the locals, the strong women and weak men, characters who are mysteriously not recognised until unveiled, the puppet master. It is all there. And the ending is a terrible tidying away of everything. It’s the sort of story that makes me feel slightly ashamed of having wasted time listening to it. Surely I could have listened to something a little more worth while.
