About this listen

“Tell me a secret, little witch.”

Marion enjoys her quiet life of solitude in the shadowy woods of the Black Veil, where even the local villagers don’t dare venture. She sells her healing potions at the village market by day and tends to her otherworldly garden by night, caring for her magical bees and furry familiar, Peek, at their cottage.

Then, one moonlit night, she encounters a devilishly handsome male—with powerful wings, sharp fangs, and high fae-like beauty—shot through with a lethal poisoned arrow.

Under her healer’s oath, she’s bound by magic to try to save the mysterious stranger. But as she nurses him back to health, she begins to suspect that Lorik Ravael isn’t quite what he seems. He knows too much about the Black Veil, rumored to be the entrance to the Below, a realm of dangerous magic and soulless monsters. Yet she’s drawn to him, bewitched by his luminous eyes, seductive grin, and silver tongue of riddles.

But as their forbidden desire ignites, she fears Lorik is hiding darker secrets than she imagined—secrets that could cost her a heart she isn’t willing to give.

The Midnight Arrow was previously published in The Lovely Dark: A Monster Romance Anthology by Emma Hamm, Juliette Cross, and Zoey Draven. This edition includes a bonus short story and can be listened to as a standalone.

It was a very good story, I didn't expect it to end on a cliffhanger, will Marion move below? She also got a new hive with a Queen in it. I am a big fan of Zoey Draven and I love her books, I am also looking forward to her next upcoming book "The Cursed Horde King" because I have read all the books in the series about DRUKKAR and the brides of it's horde kings. I highly recommend all of her books!!!

I got to ch4 and had enough of the poor performance. the quality of the sound was ok but the female narrator was not reading in a manner that suited the story. I listened to most Zoey's books but this particular narrator work didn't agree with me. her tone didn't suit the actions described. she was reading without feelings and i wonder if it is an AI generated voice.
Similar criticism goes to the male voice narrator, it was very disjointed the way it switched to a mans voice and it was read in a forcefully sultry voice ... the performance fell very flat. I opted for a return and I'm going to continue reading the novella instead of listening to it.
I hope the author doesn't choose the same narrators for the next installation of the Brides of Kyllor series

I found the Performance very poor
