Story
God Is Disappointed in You is for people who would like to read the Bible...if it would just cut to the chase. Stripped of its arcane language and interminable passages, every book of the Bible is condensed down to its core message, in no more than a few pages each. Written by Mark Russell with cartoons by New Yorker cartoonist Shannon Wheeler, God Is Disappointed in You is a frequently hilarious, often shocking, but always accurate retelling of the Bible, including the parts selectively left out by Sunday School teachers.

Very good but room for improvement
This is great for hearing scripture in modern language while you are going about your daily lives. I have found this challenging and fulfilling during task that I find boring or easy.
My problems are the file comes in three bits and the tracks are huge and it will take alot of searching if you do not listen to each part completely before listening to something else. Also I find the song and introduction about the recording very annoying but maybe audible have this sort of thing on all their books? This is the only one I have tried. Despite these minor quibbles I would definitely buy this again if I could start over.

Listen to the LORD daily
Connect with the Lord; as an Audible customer, I am not the world’s greatest reader. I have always wanted to read the Bible, but it just didn’t happen….. until now. The Message is a real blessing. I keep at least one part on my player at all times. I can read/listen to a little of the Word any time I want……in modern ‘story’ format. A perfect format for me. ENJOY!!

three cheers!
It always surprises me to see criticisms of an attempt to make the Word more accessible to the masses. It is too reminiscent of the Church keeping the scriptures in Latin for over a thousand years. I say Bravo to Eugene Peterson for this translation of the New Testament into modern English idiom. Every time I read a different translation I see things in a way I never did before.

Reader not for me.
I did not get far in the reading of this translation. I was listening to one of the gospels. The reader seemed to make Jesus always sound angry. That is not how I view Jesus.

Cheesy but good.
As an Irish listener, I find the Americanisms in this are at times so foreign that it almost makes the text *more* difficult to understand - however on the odd occasion they're just perfect; I mean, who else would come out with a phrase like 'beat it, Satan!'? Overall a fun paraphrase and one that's easily listened to.

This is the book !
Where does The Message/Remix rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Jesus would teach in parables. This man has a gift. The bible just flows from this book. I like to read to my students from the King James and then re-read the same passages from The Message. Sometimes vice versa.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jesus. He came to save us in this world and the next.
Any additional comments?
Highly recommended !
