Summary

The thrilling new audiobook from Sheila Riley in her Liverpool saga series.

Following the death of her father, Ruby Swift and husband, Archie, finally move back into Ashland Hall.

As the Great War rages, fathers and sons take the king's shilling and head off to fight the unknown enemy, not knowing what horrors lie ahead.

With Ned Kincaid in the navy, Archie signs up to the volunteer constabulary and nurses Anna Cassidy and Ellie Harrington enlist to do their bit for king and country.

Soon the true casualties of war are being brought home in droves, Ruby converts Ashland Hall into an auxiliary hospital for wounded servicemen.

It’s not long before the true cost of war is brought closer to home and Anna and Ellie enlist in the British Military Nursing Corp and soon find themselves in the battlefields of France in search of the truth.

But they soon discover more than they bargained for....

A wonderful continuation of the first ‘Mersey’ book and graphic description of first war

Once again with superb narration of real empathy , joy and horror coming through the perfect accented voices one is living within the story and a superb gentle one it is delightful.

Easy listening

Loved Mersey mistress so much, I had to find out what became of the characters so carried on to Mersey Angels, I was not disappointed it was an easy listen like the first and very enjoyable

Feels abridged

I cant get past the lack of detail and I would prefer a longer book with more attention to it. For instance, the skimping past of the cataract operation and the reaction of Ruby to her husbands secret, the arrival back of May to the fold. A lot of potential missed.

overall excellant

I have given this 5 stars as the story or rather the characters were goof this is the 2nd in the series and I want to read the next one but tbh I'm not too keen on books about fighting in the war its been done so many times but bear in mind that's my preference. I still want to read the next book to see what happens to the main characters next

Lovely story

I love to listen to these sort of stories, the 1900s were a fascinating era. Julie Maisey is such a good narrator her voice is absolutely perfect

Excellent story but…

Excellent story and narration but somewhat repetitive in the use of certain phrases which grew to be annoying.
