Charity Evans wants nothing more than to leave her troubled past behind and start afresh. The teacher at a London school for orphans is encouraged to have her memories blocked by hypnotist Samuel Gladstone, but when they experience visions with an unknown third person, they realize the past can never be truly erased. And now that past is returning to haunt Charity all over again.

Samuel is determined to help her, but how can a woman who trusts no man trust a hypnotist? And what dark secrets changed the charming gentleman into a desperate man who’ll do anything to keep those secrets buried?

I’ve not even finished this book yet and I’m already annoyed at the accent. I love the author so know it will be a good book, but Why oh why get an American to read a book based in England . The accent is absolutely terrible and the pronunciation of some of the words is nothing short of butchery. I keep correcting the narrator on how to say some of the words despite her not hearing me. Please please do better next time Audible.

I love this author and stories but could not listen to the terrible narration. Wished I had read the reviews before wasting my money

AI narration is awful

It is unfortunate that the previous narrator wasn't used on this story as well, the new narrator tries too hard to do a posh accent and started pronouncing things such pantry as pARntry. It's not correct English, while viscount isn't commonly used now, I would have looked up how to say it. The s is silent. it's pronounced Vi (to rhyme with eye) count. not visscount. It's a small thing but it breaks you out of the story. The trilogies have been thoroughly brilliant, it's very hard to stop listening and get on or go to sleep.

The narration was could have been better but the story worth it.

Curious and interesting story but odd accents and very weird pronunciations. Interested to see how the story continues and hopefully the performance develops.

Interesting story but poor dialect and accents.

Love the story but unable to listen to the truly awful narration. If you are setting a story in the UK at least have someone who can pronounce the words correctly. Woeful accents.
