Summary

Why do so many world-changing insights come from people with little or no related experience? Charles Darwin was a geologist when he proposed the theory of evolution. And it was an astronomer who finally explained what happened to the dinosaurs. Frans Johansson's The Medici Effect shows how breakthrough ideas most often occur when we bring concepts from one field into a new, unfamiliar territory, and offers examples on how we can turn the ideas we discover into path-breaking innovations.

Inspiring

I would recommend this book if you’re looking for inspiration. If you’re stuck for ideas this one is for you. It makes you think outside the box of what is possible to a direction that is unthinkable.

Must read for anyone interested in ideas and creativity.

Just a must read. Simple as that. I am not sure why I’ve not come across this book before. It should be required reading in education.

Cool idea, poor diction

Thank you for a wonderful book. Unfortunately, it is very hard on the ear, because the author reading his own book might need to practice a bit more in clear diction. Normally I prefer to listen at x1.5-1.75 speed. Such unclear diction makes it impossible for me to accelerate through the book.
