Years ago, the day before Ellie moved from Georgia to California, she and her best friend, Nolan, sat beneath the Spanish moss of an ancient oak tree where they wrote letters to each other, and sealed them in a rusty old metal box. Ellie, bereft of the faith she grew up with, is a single mom living in a tired apartment trying to make ends meet. Sometimes she watches television to catch a glimpse of her old friend - Nolan, now an NBA star, whose terrible personal tragedies fueled his faith and athletic drive in equal measure.

- By A D. on 15-01-21
Summary
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has.
The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.
Like Roman, Grace is wrestling with ghosts and secrets of her own. After a disastrous marriage threw her life completely off course, she vowed never to let love steal her dreams again. But as she gets to know the enigmatic man behind the reputation, it's as if the jagged pieces of both of their pasts slowly begin to fit together...until something so unexpected happens that it changes the course of their relationship - and both their lives - forever.

Hope for lives traumatised by violence and the care system
The Masterpiece portrays the journey from trauma and violence to
Hope. The reality of fear and shame, chains that shape a life and the reality of the power of love strong enough to break those chains offering a life of Hope and Peace. A well written book from the heart to the heart, this book talks honestly about pain, justice and restoration. It often reduced me to tears. I loved it.

Christian Propaganda
Beware - Do not read unless you wish to be endlessly berated about demons and that you and all good caring people will be tortured for all eternity if they don't follow 'Jesus'.
It says a lot about this 'christian' author that she is prepared to lie on the resume (not one mention of christianity) and fraudulenty take peoples money. Ms Rivers if you believe in this stuff, have the bravery to let people know what you are foisting on them - lying is supposed to be a sin

Misleading synopsis
I wasn't familiar with the author and the synopsis from Audible doesn't really make clear that this is Christian fiction. it's not to my taste and the constant use of 'curse word' and '4 letter word' was very grating- can Christians not handle realistic language? Anyway, I'll probably stick with it until a 2 for 1 sale comes along on Audible and then not finish the story- I can guess where it's going to go!

Great masterpiece
Another great story about Gods redemption plan and how he uses the past to create a new future. Beauty from ashes. In everything his work is at hand.
The only point and spoiler alert I have to make, is at the end there are still open questions and one of them is, the confirmation of who the father of Samuel. If this question was revealed clearly that that would have completed everything, instead it’s an open question 😌
