Summary

Miss Henrietta Moore’s life is about to get mysterious. When Sally, Henri’s maid, comes across a mask in a trunk of old costumes, Henrietta is entranced and transformed. She secretly wears the mask at the first of October’s masquerades, hoping to catch the attention of the man she thinks she loves. Instead, she finds herself the talk of the town. When her mother gives her an ultimatum to be engaged by All Hallows Eve or be forced into an arranged marriage, Henrietta continues her rouse in the hopes that the man of her dreams will recognize her. In a dance of mystery and disguise, love finds her when she isn’t looking, and luckily for her, the heart sees through any mask.

Gentle Victorian mystery

Henrietta has always loved Oliver who lives on the neighbouring estate, they played together until he had to leave for boarding and school and her for finishing school. Many years later their paths cross and she is hoping he will return her affections. However, Oliver and all the other eligible gentlemen seem more interested in Miss Mysterious who has suddenly appeared on the scene wearing a stunning mask. Gentle story set in Victorian times. I voluntarily listened and reviewed an advanced copy of this story. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Light Entertaining Romance

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.

This is a quick, light regency romance. It centers on Henrietta, who has pined for Oliver since childhood. She decides to wear a mask to a ball and is suddenly the talk of the town with the attention of many different gentlemen, including Oliver. So the question becomes, will it be Oliver she persues? I only wish the author had Henrietta do a big reveal at the end to see everyone's reaction. Overall, very enjoyable.

The narrator, Sally Roughton, did a very nice job.
