The Marshal's Mission
This in my opinion is not the best book written by the author. She has other books that are a lot better. The plot is okay, but I didn't feel any suspense or intrigue, so I lost interest quite quickly. However, I listened to it until close to the end. When the main male character had a fit about being a man who wanted to proved for his wife and not rely on his father in law, I lost interest. I felt it was not in character and I didn't believe it. Also, instead of finding a way to sort it out he got angry. I wonder if he would have done the same if it was one of his parents.
This one was not really for me but others might like it more.

Sweet and suspenseful!
A mystery to solve and a romance blossoms with this latest release by Barbara Goss. This faith based story lets us get to know Spense, a man sent to go undercover and find out why people, are being forced off their land. By infiltrating the McKay ranch, he is hoping to find the answer. What he wasn't expecting was his attraction to Glenna McKay. Glenna is promised to another, despite her wishes. But with Spense on the job and love blooming, we will have to see who she ends up with. Goss always promises a book for me that not only has a good message, but has some suspense and action. This one is full of it all, with unexpected twists and turns changing the pace of the story. I love how she weaves faith and love as the basis of her books and gives a message worth hearing.
To go along with this wonderful story, she has a wonderful narrator. J. Scott Bennett comes through again with the perfect performance. He is able to dial in to these characters and give us all the feels and emotions of the book. I love this match of Goss and Bennett.

Sweet Story with a Wonderful Narrator!
Spence Blackwood is a US Marshal on a secret mission and he needs to find out if Glenna and her father are involved with the crime he is assigned to solve. He soon finds himself attracted to Glenna and she to him. Things get complicated, not the least fact that he is from Arkansas and will have to return once the culprit is in jail. This is a sweet, heartwarming, thoroughly enjoyable story. J. Scott Bennett is such an amazing narrator. His voices are always so well done with just the right amount of emotion to make the story entertaining and enjoyable. a beautiful story of trust
I am always eager to get my hands on the latest western book by this author, and this is as good as expected!
Spence Blackwood is quietly going about his life in Arkansas, working at this father's lumber yard, when he is approached by the US Marshal Service. Spence agrees to go undercover at a ranch in Kansas, to investigate the owner, Rory McKay. He did not count on falling for McKay's daughter.
Glenna McKay is single and not bothered by that fact...but her father is...and he agrees to allow the local bank manager, Asa, to court her. Glenna is rather taken with the new ranch hand, Spence, but he's a ranch hand and her father does not approve of that possible affiliation. When Glenna discovers the evidence that Spence needs, he whisks her off to a safe place...but will her father be safe from the men determined to extort money from land owners?
Meanwhile Glenna struggles with her feelings for Spence, because she does not want to leave her father to move to Arkansas with Spence...and Spence does not want to leave his father's business to move permanently to Kansas. Will the duo trust that God has a plan and 'roll with it'?
Lots of action that keep you engrossed. The narrator is perfect for this book...he has that voice that you associate with a rugged cowboy :-). If you love westerns, you most definitely should add this to your must read-listen list!
I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this one!
Barb Goss and Scott Bennett! These two never fail to please and they have done it again!
Barbara's delightfully sweet western romance and Scott's brilliant voices make this audiobook a real pleasure from beginning to end.
The problems that the two main characters, Glenna and Spence have to overcome are many and I could see the modern youth of today easily giving up rather than solving them, but these two characters don't and thank goodness for that.
I just loved Spence's persistence and that he wasn't ashamed that he could go to his mother to get her advice when he needed to. Yet he was strong in nature and personality and always gave the task at hand the necessary attention to complete it regardless of the obstacles.
Glenna is quite likable and she comes across as a caring person and I liked that about her.
Of course this story has a happily-ever-after and this was a very pleasing one too.
The audio voices are well fitted to each of the characters and this enriched the story even more.
I requested and listened to the audiobook and my voluntary review above is unbiased.

Sweet story
I enjoyed this book, even if it was a bit predictable. It brought back memories of some of the Harlequin stories I used to read when I was a young girl. I was a bit confused on how a man who is not a lawman of any kind is recruited to do some investigation in another town. However, it seems he was the right man for the job. I loved how his relationship with his Mama was able to help him through the predicament of having to choose between his heart and his family.
all in all, I enjoyed the story.
Scott Bennett never lets me down. I never get tired of listening to him tell me a story. He is top notch here and always.
