This book was very helpful. So many Christian marriage books rely on outdated gender stereotypes which only leave couples who don't fit the narrative feel confused and frustrated. This book emphasises the importance of accepting each other's unique personality, gifts and needs and walking through life with love and partnership. I really liked the marriage hierarchy of needs too.

The book provides great data, anecdotal examples and biblical foundations for a simple concept of marriage as partnership. The author read book ( an easy on the ear listen with both husband and wife authors contributing to the reading) helped in the establishment of this core idea. The authors unpack this concept chapter by chapter putting words and voice to the causes of discomfort, unease and conflict in marriage. They pull no punches in identifying abusive behaviors offering direct advice for what to do if experiencing such behaviors in your marriage. Full of practical solutions and hope for living fulfilling lives together.

It is nice to listen to a well thought out, well researched Christian marriage book, narrated in an engaging way with two voices from the couple who wrote the book. Especially enjoyed the therapeutic references and the emotions chapter near the end - very good content! All round good advice throughout - non-triggering yet challenging in good ways. Focussed on the importance of teamwork.
