About this listen

An utterly addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist

The rules are there to keep their family safe. But what happens when they get broken…?

Fiona Fisher lives a quiet and contented existence. A former nurse who married Jason, the doctor of her dreams, she is now a mother to his two daughters and living in the sort of cosy village home she’d always wished for.

Life is pretty much perfect in every way. As long as they stick to their rules…

Everyone in bed by eight o’clock sharp.

No loud music, no news on the TV, no social media. The house phone for emergency use only.

Locks on every door. No leaving the house.

And absolutely no talking about the past.

But one day, someone starts breaking the rules…

This insanely twisty psychological thriller will have you gripped. Anyone who held their breath as they raced through The Housemaid, The Wife Between Us and The Girl on the Train needs to drop everything and start listening!

I really enjoy Samantha’s books and this one didn’t disappoint. Lots of twists. Well done.

Good story, well narrated.

Let me start by saying I don’t normally listen to these books, normally romance. I just read all of Karen Cass books she narrated. When I started I thought this is rubbish not my thing, but oh am I glad I carried on. So many twists and turns, normally quite good at working out who is bad and good. But not a scooby. So recommend, well done Samantha for an amazing book

Oh my god couldn’t put it down

I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I never saw the twists coming!!!! One of the best books I’ve listened to in ages

Samantha Hayes can be relied upon to give us happy hours of listening every time she brings out a book and this one succeeds yet again. There are so many plot twists and turns that at the hand of a lesser writer the story could become confusing. However, this author steers us skilfully towards the final breathtaking twist. Most enjoyable thank you, Sam!

A clever story, cleverly written.
