This was one of Daphne's novels that I had not read before, so I was excited to come across it on Audible. I absolutely loved it. Her stories are varied, and yet, distinctive. After you have devoured Rebecca, My Cousin Rachel, Jamaica Inn, and Frenchman's Creek, definitely prioritise this one. Highly recommended.

As a massive du Maurier fan, I struggled to connect with this one. The story never quite landed for me, but the narration made it even harder. The delivery felt overly sing-songy with an odd cadence and emphasis in the wrong places, which made it a chore to listen to. Unfortunately, I had to put it down with 7.5 hours left to go. I just did not care about the characters enough to continue.
