Summary

I thought magic was make believe...but I was way wrong.

I was nobody. No matter how hard I tried, I never fit in with anyone at my high school. Now I know why.

Turns out I'm a witch. A scary powerful one, too. Except The Coven that claimed me won't teach me how to use my magic.

Suddenly, I'm selected by the Goddess to hunt down a mythical locket needed to save the world from destruction. The only person who actually tries to help me is the alarmingly attractive Tennessee. He has immeasurable power and breathtaking mismatched eyes. I'm drawn to him on a level I can't explain...and he's forbidden from getting too close to me.

When the quest takes an unexpected dangerous turn, I have to improvise. This supernatural world is unraveling at my fingertips and I need to master my magic fast. If I don't, I could get everyone I care about killed...

Featuring a kickass heroine, forbidden love, and magic you’ll wish was real, fans of The Mortal Instruments, Twilight, or Harry Potter will love Chandelle LaVaun’s brand new urban fantasy series!

the beginning of an amazing adventure

i originally read this book when it was released, and was excited to see the audiobook. listening to it was like saying hello to an old friend This is the first book in a series that is going to be epic. It has everything that you need and want. Magic, mystery and romance. Once you start reading you get sucked in and just don't want to put it down. The characters are extremely well written, the plot amazing and you feel like you are a part of the quest. I eagerly await more Vanessa does an amazing job as always.

A surprising find

I enjoyed this first book and I'm looking forward to more in this adventure. While there are some predictable scenarios, it's a strong start for the author. I can't wait to see how the characters grow and develop over time. I will definitely be looking for the rest of the series.

FINALLY!

I absolutely love this series! Can't wait for the rest of the books to be released in audio. I only have one major point to critique about the performance: Tenn needs his own narrator!

Extreme Desperation!!

I was happy to see this book pop up because it popped up under narrator Vanessa Moyen who is amazing. Also I’m in a book rut, just wondering through waiting for my favorite book continuations to come out. When I saw this I jumped! I liked it enough. I can say that I was wildly turned off of the MC. She comes off as so extremely desperate! Way to excited and takes the news way to easily and is always asking Tennessee to kiss her. It come off...well childish. But I guess a little bit real. Anyways the story lacked character development. I just don’t feel anything for any...ANY of the characters, as I don’t know a single thing about them. The story kind of just jumps right in as if maybe there was a prior book that explained the world. But I looked and found it not! Anyways worth a listen for me I guess while I wait for the big girl books to come out! ;)
