'Who died?' I said. 'Or is it a secret?'
'My mother, Vianne Rocher.'

Seeking refuge and anonymity in the cobbled streets of Montmartre, Yanne and her two daughters live peacefully, if not happily, above their little chocolate shop.

Nothing unusual marks them out; no red sachets hang by the door. The wind has stopped - at least for a while.

Then into their lives blows Zozie de l'Alba, the lady with the lollipop shoes - ruthless, devious and seductive.

With everything she loves at stake, Yanne must face a difficult choice; to flee, as she has done so many times before, or to confront her most dangerous enemy...

Herself.

The Lollipop Shoes
follows on from Chocolat. The story continues in Peaches for Monsieur le Curé and The Strawberry Thief.

Here is a truly delectable offering...Lush and bewitching, with a dark, mystical heart, this is a novel you can't help but devour greedily.
A charming tale of magic and lost dreams.

Juliet Stephenson really captures the feeling of this book, it is a lovely story, and so magical and spiritual too. Best to read Chocolat first or the plot would be confusing about past references. I would highly recommend this book with the vivid descriptions, and complex relationships...I didn`t want it to end, and immediately purchased the book that follows this one, and enjoyed that too..a brilliant listen !

Beautifully read

The Lollipop shoes was a very descriptive book, with beautiful analogies and interweaving characters. However it was very drawn out and I lost interest in the details while getting to the crux of the story.

Elaborate

Joanne Harris at her best and Juliet Stevenson brings it to life. A great follow up to Chocolat and look forward to her next one!
