The little match girl was always a favourite story in my book of Hans Christian Andersen stories, but this re-telling by Emma Carroll is simply wonderful, and beautifully narrated by Imogen Wilde. There is no fairy tale aspect to this, just honest historic story telling at its best and I was captivated from the start.

An excellent version of an old classic
