About this listen

There's a fine line between love and hate, so fine that you don't know you've lost balance until it's too late. Kennedy is not sure exactly when she lost her balance. All she knows is that he was to blame. Dane Winters. The boy who'd spent most of his life hating her for reasons she never understood.

It was no secret that Dane hated Kennedy, but only he knew why. She was off-limits. And then their separate worlds collided with one tragedy. It wasn't her fault, he knew that, but he wanted her to hurt the way he did, and he needed someone to blame.

She was an easy target. Kennedy Monroe. The girl he'd picked on all their lives. And the woman he barely tolerated. Until the line between love and hate was no longer visible....

Contains mature themes.

Really enjoyable story.
Often the angst aspect of a story is overplayed, in this instance Tamsin was spot on with the pace and storytelling. The development of the story and its characters were great, the narrators' were both very good and enhanced the story.
Well paced, great drama and beautifully read by both narrators - what's not to like?

I never award 5*!

This book made me cry.

I confess. It did.
The exploration of loss, love and healing in this book was fantastic.
Danes father has always hated the Monroe's and he encouraged his son to feel the same. Jewel, his twin sister never shared those sentiments, her best friend Kennedy Monroe is proof enough of that.

Kennedy is also the girl that Dane loves to hate even though his teenage thirst is crazy... he relishes taking his frustration out on her by making her young life miserable, until life gives him a reason to really hate her family.
A tragic accident on Prom night has bound them both. Kennedy's older brother Charlie and Jewel both die.
Losing their siblings has made them understand one another in a way that makes each kiss they share feel like the only thing stopping them from drowning in their grief. College is complicated enough, having the person you hate and crave in equal measure living in the room next door... is just pure torture.
Both too afraid to move on and claim what they truly want, they continue to make each other hurt while praying the other would be the one to break and confess their desires so they can both finally heal.

Out of all the Love to Hate journeys, this one feels authentic and the conclusion has you jumping for joy that these crazy kids finally stopped acting so immature and got their shit together.

Love is complicated. But worth fighting for.

Hated the male lead. What a despicable character. He should have been in prison for burglary and sexual assault.

Misogynistic abuse
