Everyone lies...but some lies are deadly.

For Claire Daniels, life is good. She has everything she’s ever wanted - a career she loves, friends she can rely on and a husband who dotes on her. All she needs is to start a family of her own and things will be even better than good.

They’ll be perfect.

For Alfie, it couldn’t be more different. His life with Claire is built on a lie. A lot of lies. And she can never find out.

Good listen

Well I genuinely enjoyed it! Twists were good and for once my suspicions were right!
Wish there was a guy to read Alfie chapters, but other than that, I liked the audiobook

Better than average psych thriller

I particularly enjoyed the first part of this book with the two main characters having very different views on the state of their marriage, I thought this was clever and had me hooked. I felt that the middle lost pace a bit and became a bit repetitive however the end was satisfying if a little predictable. The narration was good and suited the characters giving the listener a good sense of them. I would certainly look for other books by this author.

Narration is good

I liked it. Easy listen! I don’t know if I’m a psychological thriller junkie but I had an incline about the storyline. I personally found it predictable but nonetheless and good storyline

An average listen for me

This book was ok, it was really easy to listen to, narration was good but the story itself was just ok.

If you want something quick that you can switch off to then have a listen. But if you want a good thriller I would look elsewhere.

Keeps you listening

A thriller that keeps you listening. I'd describe it as an "easy listening" book. Not too mentally challenging but with some good twists. The characters were not especially likeable to me - goodies and baddies, but there was just enough "oh for goodness sake, where is this going?!" to keep the plot going for me. I felt a little blindsided by the big twist, because I suppose so often this type of thriller has the voice of the two characters running concurrently with the reader knowing everything, and that's not the case here, even if you guess.
Narration was pretty good.

Don’t bother!

Started off ok but just descended into silliness. The story was totally unbelievable & the main female character lacked any depth & went from one extreme to another.
Lost interest towards the end & was left unsure as to what had actually happened.
That narrator was annoying too. I’ll be returning this book.

Really unbelievable child like wife.

Narcissist meets sociopath oh wait which one is which. I could not put up with the wife for almost half of the book so back it went. If you can suspend your disbelief for the whole book than you will like this book. If you want to read about believable people and how they cope this book is not for you. Arlene a Audible reader .

banal with one dimensional characters

This story was dreadful. The characters were undeveloped, boring, one dimensional caricatures. The dialog for the "evil" husband was downright eye rolling and repetitive. If I had to listen to him say “stupid b**ch” one more time, I was about to scream. The plot twist was SO obvious! Seriously, I could see it a mile away. I fast forwarded through the last hour of the book - I just could not take it anymore. The entire book is a cliche. The narrator was good. I really do not understand the good reviews of this one. Don’t waste your money on this

Twisted & Delicious

A twisted domestic thriller (which are among my favorites). You won't be disappointed. See if you can figure it out before the story ends.

Story good

While the ending was not a surprise, it was an interesting turn when the story changed direction.

This narrator was good as overall voice, when doing Clare’s voice, and at times with Alfie’s voice. Other than that, these were the worst male voices I’ve ever heard. She should stick with female voices only.

Plot Twisting, Mind Mixing Who-Done-It

Alex Lake has written a superb mystery novel. I knew it was about an evil husband and unsuspecting wife, but the story takes a wild turn in the middle. From there on, plot twists abound until the end.

Excellent retelling of a common theme. I especially enjoyed the Audible version!
