About this listen

An equal parts haunting and hilarious deep-dive review of history’s most notorious and cold-blooded serial killers, from the creators of the award-winning Last Podcast on the Left

Since its first show in 2010, The Last Podcast on the Left has barreled headlong into all things horror, as hosts Henry Zebrowski, Ben Kissel, and Marcus Parks cover subjects spanning Jeffrey Dahmer, werewolves, Jonestown, and supernatural phenomena. Deeply researched but with a morbidly humorous bent, the podcast has earned a dedicated and aptly cultlike following for its unique take on all things macabre.

In their first book, the guys take a deep dive into history’s most infamous serial killers, from Ted Bundy to John Wayne Gacy, exploring their origin stories, haunting habits, and perverse predilections. Featuring newly developed content alongside updated fan favorites, each profile is an exhaustive examination of the darker side of human existence. With appropriately creepy four-color illustrations throughout and a gift-worthy paper over board format, The Last Book on the Left will satisfy the bloodlust of readers everywhere.

Narrated by the authors.

I have listened to LPOTL since 2014 and this is still well worth the listen. I have the hard back and Audible version and I agree with the other review (albeit less negative). Marcus could have read this book on his own and it would have been better but still awesome!! Henry’s lines read better than to listen too and Ben isn’t very good at reading his lines but if you have listened to any Creepypasta/Listenerpasta you could have guessed that. However, in light of recent events Ben’s adage is even more ‘grating’ until the truth is revealed. Megustilations!!

Hail Gein! Hail Marcus!

Book is amazing. very well researched and detailed. The jokes from Ben and Henry don't translate well. You do get used to it and enjoy it about 4 hours in but it is very jarring at first.

amazing writing, jokes don't translate well

If you like The Last Podcast on the Left, I strongly recommend this book. If you're interested in a book thats informative about serial killers, I strongly recommend this book. The audiobook is narrated by Marcus, Henry, and Ben, in which they take another look at some of the 'Big Hitters' they've covered in the past and detailing the lives and crimes, all the while remaining respectful of the victims of the acts (or so I feel).

Megustalations

Ive listened to the pod cast for years now and the boys never fail to deliver. the jokes in the book dont carry very well to the audience outside of the US. Having said that it's still a must for true crime fans.

not as good as the pod cast

Massive fan of the podcast, been to their live gig when they visited London, had high expectations for this book and purchased it on Audible specifically because I love their voices... Unfortunately this book probably works much better in text. Marcus' bit is excellent (the more gruesome parts are obviously toned down for 'normal' audiences though) but interjections from Henry and Ben are unfunny, unnecessary and plain cringey. Even though they've been performing for ages, they somehow deliver their horribly humourless quips in a way that causes second hand embarrassment, in addition to disrupting the flow of the story. Maybe the scripted nature of the book is to blame as Ben and Henry are quite good at improv, and usually Marcus is the only one reading prepared content. Still love them all, but Marcus has clearly outdone everyone else here.

Hail yourself!
