The eighth novel of the internationally acclaimed Chaos Seeds saga.

A mesmerizing tale reminiscent of the brutality of Goblin Slayer and the majesty of Game of Thrones.

Welcome my friends!

Welcome...to “The Land"!

The battle of the dead was won, but at a great cost. Sion, leader of the Mist Village, was left with only pain and regret as Richter was claimed by the abyss.

What no one but the abandoned chaos seed knows is that he narrowly avoided the curse of the lich Singh, a curse that still hangs above his head. Now, surrounded by miles of darkness and tons of crushing rock, Richter has to find his way back into the light.

The only problem is that this monster of a man is being pursued by monsters, a demon, and his own foolish choices. Faced with all the dangers of the deep dark, what will Richter say when the buried horrors of The Land come a calling and asked if he's paid his dues?

Well he'll look right back, stare that horror in the eye, and say, "Yes sir, the check is in the mail!"

Welcome back my friends! Welcome back...to The Land!

Not a great entry in the series, poorly paced so I hope the next entry has almost no prompts since they're all here! The series has always been prompt heavy but it's infinite prompts the book this time. On one of the few breaks it even takes a whole chapter on toilet humour (which breaks the rule of storytelling "progress the story" for ages) which was not to my taste but may be to others.

Not up to par

I’ve been following the series since the start and whilst the writing has never been stellar it’s been good enough and kept my interest so I’ve been able to stick with it.

The high quality of the narration forgives a lot but In this latest book the author seems to have switched his target audience from young adult to prepubescent male teens, such are the numerous classless and puerile remarks.

Additionally, the book is about 70% prompts and notifications and the protagonist doesn’t make it out of the starting location so there’s no conclusion (or intro for that matter).

So even though this had decent fight scenes and carries some promise for the future books I struggled though this one.

It was more novella than novel due to its failure to move the story forward and its repetitive reliance on quoting stats and prompts.
Even if this isn’t reined in going forwards it really needs to focus on a broader audience. (As in not exclusively 10-14 year olds whom some of the puerile commentary might have impressed).

Great narration can’t forgive numerous flaws

This is another great book from Aleron Kong, it is slightly different from the other books in the series in that it mainly concentrates on one thing similar to a side quest book however saying that it is the Land and it is GREAT.

A great book made better my Audible

The land started out well, but by now, it is painfully evident that the author has no plans for the series and the writing quality has declined further.

Declined so far that we have an entire chapter describing constipation and diarrhea.

Pure filler

Although after seeing the reviews giving this book quite a bashing, being a fan of the series I gave it a go anyway. This book is definitely not the best in the series and certainly is a big information dump but considering the events of the previous book there needed to be a bit of a clear out for all the things gained in the crypt segment. I will not deny there is really too much of the numbers game being played in this one but I hope that now it’s done this it will free up more space in the next book for more of the action etc. side of things. Here’s hoping for the next one

My thoughts
