About this listen

An inferno erupts when an arms dealer’s classified weapon leaks in a hotbed of crime, threatening to expose the illusive elixir incubated in the territory of Ara Pacis. US intelligence detects a most bizarre signature of secret emitters in the signal traffic of that area. They suspect a lone wolf has launched a cruel defense.

Unexpected details spring to life for attorney Craig Malcault; human tides stream into the many traps at the main river of Ara Pacis and dead bodies multiply. Who has unleashed this chain of events that lures the military into the treacherous quagmire?

It's been more than fifteen years since Craig’s client cunningly confronted the main competitor of the priceless biochemical conglomerate she built. The adversary never promised to play fair. Now as the secret spy rings scramble and alliances crumble, what the military does not have is insight into the lone wolf’s motives. Only Craig’s client can prevent the ultimate catastrophe. Does upholding Ara Pacis’ covenant require her to choose between her own life and honoring the chilling terms of the territory’s security agreement?

This book pulls you deep into an action-packed and emotional adventure. The plot is gripping, with complex characters and unexpected twists that keep you hooked from start to finish. Being the fourth book in the series, it builds on previous storylines while introducing fresh challenges and developments. It made me eager to learn more about the characters and their struggles, and it felt like a powerful continuation of an epic journey.

One part that really stood out to me was the emotional depth the author brought to the characters' experiences. I could feel their pain, struggles, and triumphs as they faced impossible odds. I particularly connected with one character’s journey of finding strength in the face of overwhelming loss, which mirrored a personal challenge I’ve been facing. It made me reflect on my own resilience in tough times. The narration was fantastic, with the author’s voice adding even more intensity and emotion to the story.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The Killingfields is an absolutely gripping continuation of The Cave Sun Series — Maria Ian has outdone herself with this installment.

From the very first scene, I was pulled back into the high-stakes conflict that defines this series. The characters are more complex than ever, and their personal struggles feel as intense and real as the battles they face. The world-building continues to amaze, with vivid landscapes and haunting revelations that push the story into darker, more thrilling territory. The narration brings it all to life beautifully — every moment crackles with tension and heart.

Whether you’ve been following the series or are just discovering it, The Killingfields is a must-listen that blends fantasy, war, and humanity in a way that stays with you long after it ends.

I didn’t think this series could get any wilder but this installment blew me away. I felt like I was dropped straight into the chaos, with so many twists and eerie tech moments that it gave me goosebumps. The political undertones, the gritty landscapes, and the psychological layers really hooked me. I found myself pausing to take it all in then hitting play again immediately. It’s intense, but in the best way.

Thrilling, Twisted, and Totally Gripping
