About this listen
A score of years after he first walked into the histories of Men, Anasûrimbor Kellhus rules all the Three Seas, the first true Aspect-Emperor in a thousand years.
Wielding more power than even the greatest sorcerer, Kellhus now leads a holy war deep into the wastes of the Ancient North, intent on destroying the stronghold of Golgotterath and preventing the Second Apocalypse.
Meanwhile his wife and consort, Esmenet, struggles to rule not only his vast empire, but their murderous children as well. And Achamian, who lives as a Wizard in embittered exile, undertakes a mad quest to uncover the origins of the Dûnyain.
But Achamian, of all people, should know that one must be very careful what one seeks . . .
First he was the Prince of Nothing, then the Warrior-Prophet. Now Anasurimbor Kellhus is the Aspect-Emperor. But is he a living god . . . or a demon from hell?

reading Bakker's books is an experience like few others. Closer to theological studies or course work for a thesis, it's dense language required complete focus and commitment with the rewards that come with such fastidious work being well worth it.
its almost like a bible study, the characters are very well written and fleshed out, everything has purpose and meaning. Bakker will write an entire chapter about a person just to kill them by the end.
Its also grim, sexual, violent and dark. Damn but it's grim and all the better for it.
I find myself repeatedly listening to parts, sometimes the entire chapter again to fully take it in. Before cross checking and looking up points, desperately grasping for understanding and clarity
its a slog, an incredible slog but in the very best way possible, without any negative connotations. Enjoyable and thought provoking. you'll need to talk about this book with someone else who's read it. you'll need time to think over what you read.
I can't recommend this book and the series as a whole enough
Not even the fact that the next book being released in April 26 with the book after coming February 26 can dim my enthusiasm for the series
Thoroughly enjoyable
