I love Janet’s writing. I like the sometimes strange stories line. The quirkinesses of the characters. I really enjoy the narration on the audio books. I am always left wanting more and have just listened to the whole “Fox & O’Hare” Novels.

These tales are becoming a little tedious and long winded, I found myself winding through just to finish the book. The narrator has some very strange accents in this rendition - I took a supposed Cockney accent for an Australian one, and a discussion introduced by a comment about the 'heavy Manchester accent' really left me bewildered - nothing like a Manchester sound!!

This isn't the only reason that I marked this down, the first in the series was like a breath of fresh air - but once the novelty of the situation wore off the stories are just overlong and wearisome.

Just 2 performance niggles
1)it's pronounced Mar-bayer not Mar-bella.
2) the Manchester accent was pure London.

Exciting, complicated, fun.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nick Fox as he is charming and clever.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I liked his good paced and clear performance. I hated his appalling Manchester accent that came straight from old fashioned cockney and was very irritating.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really it was a pleasant story but did not affect you on an emotional level.

Any additional comments?

This is a good, complicated story with many twists and turns. The only problem is that Kate does not come over as a particularly likeable character in this book and that Nick is not in it enough to lift the tale.

Another excellent book.
Exactly the sort we enjoy.
Drama, comedy and a hint of romance.
Several minor characters were beautifully brought to life in a few words.
Scott Brick is one of the very best narrators around.

Janet is well up amongst my ten favourite authors.

Excellent addition to the series.
