Summary

Everyone has their own vision of Jesus - an all-powerful defender of the faith, a wise rabbi, a stained-glass cathedral image, or a soft and fluffy Sunday school flannelboard likeness. But the question of who Jesus really was and what his life was like has fascinated generations of Christians. Best selling author and respected journalist Philip Yancey takes a deeper look at the Christ of the Gospels. From the manger in Bethlehem to the cross in Jerusalem, Yancey reveals a complex character, a disturbing and exhilarating Jesus who aims to transform your life and faith radically. The Jesus I Never Knew is a piercingly honest interpretation of the life and character of Jesus of Nazareth by a writer unafraid to tackle Christianity's most difficult issues in order to enhance our perspective and understanding.

Fascinating

This is an amazing book, Jesus the man, the God, the rebel. Written and read from the heart. To quote from the book ?if Jesus had not existed, you could not have made him up!?

shared clips with my kids so they would understand

I read this book 20 years ago and listening to it on audible brought back the same energizing devotion to the Jesus I NOW know thanks to this book. It was the first book I ever read in one sitting, once I cracked the cover, I never closed it until the last word.... I'm blessed to have heard it again through audible.. I thought I was buying the entire book......why was this $10 and I only got 2 chapters?

I wish I could decide what I think

What would have made The Jesus I Never Knew better?

Other narrator

What could Philip Yancey have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not reading it himself

How could the performance have been better?

There is no emotion in his voice

Any additional comments?

I will listen to it again

Encouraged

A refreshing reminder of God's great love and care for me. My daily actions should honor Christ.
