About this listen

FYRE FESTIVAL meets ONE OF THE GIRLS in this psychological thriller with twists you'll never see coming.

'It's the hottest ticket in town. But once you're in, there's no getting out.'

Jody, Ari and Carla have won golden tickets to the summer’s hottest music festival, which promises to be full of glamour, mystique and lots of freebies.

But, arriving on the sun-drenched shores of a private Greek island among influencers and celebrities, the trio are dismayed to find the small festival site far from the beacon of music, art and ‘immersive experiences’ they were promised. Disappointed but not deterred, they vow to make the most of the trip.

But when a shocking discovery on day three turns the festival into a nightmare, the girls find themselves trapped on the island with no escape…

The main thing that made this difficult to finish for me, was the insufferable main character. She makes decisions that make zero sense for the character (staying in a male stranger's tent after arguing with her friends), blowing things out of proportion ("they lied to me about the landlord" - no they didn't, they just delayed telling her because she already had a lot going on and is a drama queen)
maybe it's just me but I felt like Jodie was a drip, constantly moaning and self obsessed, making a big deal about things that don't need to be.
The plot was much like that latter point - a lot of nothing. Could have explored so much more with the premise of a Fyre festival type mess, but the writer doesn't.
The 'climax' of the book is rushed and I was left disappointed with this overall.

Thin storyline, good narrator, poor character development

LOVED her first two books on here (the Yacht/Resort) so full of twists and shocking parts. The theme of this book was much more serious and deeper. I liked how it was able to show respect to sensitive issues but not for me

Not what I expected

I really struggled with this until the final third of the book, when suddenly the story seemed to come to life. I’m afraid I found the narrator whiney and weak, I struggled to care about her. Not helped by the narrator’s voice which I found quite soporific. However, suddenly in the final chapters, the storyline picks up pace & I found myself rooting for the narrator in the end. Though all loose ends are tied up a bit too neatly, not a book is rush to recommend.

Not for me

I like this authors work and found this book entertaining, although the main character was a but frustrating (but I think this is intentional). However, the author has thoughtfully put in a trigger warning (TW) which appears in the authors note, but it appears at the end of the story! This is an AUDIBLE issue and should be amended asap to protect listeners.

Good story but Audible please put the TW at the beginning!
