London 1940. As the war rages in Europe, Rose Brown steps on board a ship bound for America, hoping to escape the danger. It was a great read and I enjoyed it very much. I liked the characters except for Alice and her son. They weren't very appealing and were very self-centred.

I laughed and cried in equal measure. A story with a difference. The characters grew up throughout the pages and brought the listener through a childhood, an adolescence and a war. Highly recommend reading this book.
