About this listen

Everything is about to change…

When Ross Lowry moves into his cousin's guest house in the small community of Magdalena, Arizona, he expects nothing more than breathing room and a brief respite from his economic woes. But something is not right in the desert. After a raucous party on New Year's Eve, the luck of the attendees undergoes an immediate U-turn. The rich and successful suddenly find themselves facing catastrophic failure while the less well-off are unexpectedly flush with good fortune.

This is only the beginning…

Soon the citizens of Magdalena are experiencing unnatural desires. Next their children begin to disappear and freakish creatures emerge from the surrounding wilderness. The community is unraveling at a frightening pace. But these are merely the early warning signs of a showdown with a powerful force of darkness that could obliterate the world forever, and only Ross Lowry sees the danger that lurks ahead.

Well written, well read. A good supernatural mystery that takes it's time to unravel, as a good mystery should. A monster lurks and people must figure out the right from wrong as their lives and minds twist and turn. Fun stuff!

Another well written supernatural mystery

Not a genre I normally read. Needs a stronger warning label. Sex and violence in huge dollops, but in fact none gratuitous to the story - which is the stuff of horror movies. Not sure if I enjoyed it, there were places I nearly stopped, but felt compelled to keep going - or should that be influenced?

I loved this book! I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this author? I’m now looking up everything else they’ve written.
Well done to my new favourite author, I haven’t enjoyed a story this much in ages:)

I had a hard time not listening to this book all the way through. Improbable so it was, the story had me very interested and I was especially taken by the way it was read by excellent narrator, Joe Barrett. Ross moves into his cousin’s guesthouse and before long all sorts of weird things start happening, not only to him but to the whole town. Ross meets a wonderful woman and they try to piece together what is causing the chaos. I enjoyed it although it petered out a bit at the end. It had a very exciting pre-conclusion though which is not to be missed.

I enjoyed The Influence

Just like one of his other books, the first part was great and the second part was too busy like he had crammed every horror story he could think of in it. What really made it for me was the gorgeous voice of the narrator
