Summary

Christopher G. Nuttall’s novel of human fear and survival, set in the thrilling world of his Angel in the Whirlwind series.

A year after the Commonwealth won the war with the Theocracy, the interstellar cruise liner Supreme is on its maiden voyage, carrying a host of aristocrats thrilled to be sharing in a wondrous adventure among the stars. The passengers include the owner and his daughters, Angela and Nancy. Growing up with all the luxuries in the world, neither sister has ever known true struggle, but that all changes when a collision with a pirate ship leaves the cruiser powerless and becalmed in hyperspace. And they’re not alone.

Now, the mysterious force that’s living on this floating graveyard is coming for Supreme’s crew and passengers. As madness starts to tear at their minds, they must fight to survive in a strange alien realm.

And there’s no way out...

fresh, exciting, beautifully read.

Definitely one of the best Sci-Fi Audibles I heard. Really original and compelling.
Superbly narrated too!

Okay, but not great

This might be a new series being launched from the Whirlwind Series. In this story we have a luxury Space Liner on its maiden voyage. A hyperspace trap is sprung by aliens and the story begins.

The book is well written. The basic idea of the story is ageless. I don’t think the story is up to the usual Nuttall standard. The owner of the ship and his two daughters are aboard the vessel and they are the key people in the story. Later in the book, the action is good. There was more foul language in this book than I can remember in all Nuttall’s other books. Ove all it is an interesting story.

The book is thirteen hours and fifty-nine minutes. Jennifer Jelsema does a good job narrating the book. Jelsema is a new narrator for me. Jelsema is an actress, voice actor and audiobook narrator.

FILLER JUNK

Would you try another book from Christopher G. Nuttall and/or Jennifer Jelsema?

Only because most of the previous books have been pretty good, unlike this one

What could Christopher G. Nuttall have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Make it a stand alone book or new series. This seemed like a mix of ideas tossed into a book.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jennifer Jelsema’s performances?

I really can't say because the book was so off series.

Any additional comments?

Shortly after the book starts there is a warning that basically this book does not belong in the series or at the very least is so far out of the time line that it is crazy.
There are brief mentions of the war the series is/was about.
I'm asking for a refund. Maybe the book would have been OK if I had not expected it to be logically next in the series, this is probably should have been book 55, not 5.

Good story, annoying narrator.

This narrator has trouble with hard consonants. Here are a few examples: Didn't becomes dint, rotten is ra-enn, couldn't is coont, important is imporant. Thank goodness for Kindle where you can read the book in Standard English.

Disappointed

I am one of this author’s greatest fans, I have all his book, some still waiting to be read.
By chapter 12 I gave up, boring non-plot, insipid characters and totally not what I expected.

Thanks

Missed the mark

The Angel in the whirlwind series was good, but this wasn't. By the end I found myself not even caring if they got out or not.

Unlikable people worn-down and tortured by aliens.

Voice acting shows just how weary everyone is getting, and it wears you down as a listener. Not Nuttall's best work. Try "Sufficiently Advanced Science" instead. Oh wait, that one isn't on Audible. Ok, so try "Sufficiently Advanced Magic" instead. Different author, but great book.

A far cry

A favorite author has slipped, fallen and lost his luster. It’s as if he had a mediocre inspiration after reading Stephen King and Danielle Steele. Characters are bland. Plots are unimaginative and shaky. The book might qualify to be published with the Harlequin genre, except I don’t think Harlequin fans would enjoy it either.

Really a surprise

This is the type of excellent book once comes to expect from Christopher G. Nuttall. It revolves around a star liner that is on it's maiden voyage with a manifest of high ranking passengers which include the head of the firm that owns the liner. The interplay of characters is outstanding and you can almost feel the excitement and fear as each one goes through the situations that happen on the cruise.

The narration is also outstanding.

I do hope that there will be more books in this series as I have enjoyed all of the books to date.
