About this listen

The unmaking of the world has begun. The Hyena and the Hawk is the conclusion to Adrian Tchaikovsky’s epic fantasy trilogy, Echoes of the Fall, following The Bear and the Serpent.

‘A classically brilliant fantasy writer’ – Paul Cornell, author of Witches of Lychford

From the depths of the darkest myths, the soulless Plague People have returned. Their pale-walled camps obliterate villages, just as the terror they bring with them destroys minds. In their wake, nothing is left of the true people: not their places, not their ways. The Plague People will remake the world as though they had never been.

The heroes and leaders of the true people – Maniye, Loud Thunder, Hesprec and Asman – will each fight the Plague People in their own ways. They will seek allies, gather armies and lead the charge. But a thousand swords or ten thousand spears will not suffice to turn back this enemy. The end is at hand for everything the true people know . . .

Complete the transporting, sweeping coming-of-age fantasy series that began with The Tiger and the Wolf.

The series is narrated by Kyla Garcia. Listeners love the series in audio:

A classically brilliant fantasy writer, a pusher of boundaries, great storyteller (Paul Cornell, author of Witches of Lychford)
It's addictively brilliant! The protagonist is vivid and sympathetic – and I love both the story and the world Adrian has created (John Gwynne, author of Shadow of the Gods, on The Tiger and the Wolf)
Brilliantly conceived and executed . . . Readers will be captivated (Publishers Weekly on The Tiger and the Wolf)
Breathtaking scope and vision. Adrian Tchaikovsky is one of our finest writers (Gareth Powell, author of Embers of War, on Children of Ruin)
Inventive, funny and engrossing (Tade Thompson, author of Rosewater, on Shards of Earth)

The build up of the previous 2 books came together nicely which linked in a fun way to shadows of the apt, which i hope the link continues in any later possible books.
Also the narrator notably improved as well making it a more interesting listen.

A satisfying and interesting conclusion

Loved it! a grand adventure full of coils claws, gods and growth. I hope we can revisit this world as I'm sure it has some more stories to tell.

I don’t know I just couldn’t seem to get into these characters very much. The first two books were OK but for me personally not great then this one started off kind of with a bang and I thought wow it’s going to be a spectacular finale, but then, by the middle of this book it kind of went back to how it was in the other two. I just couldn’t really get into it that much, but I rode it out to the end. But this is me somebody else might love it.

Good start but…

I've enjoyed every second of this series, and heavily recommend it. I've loved every Adrian Tchaikovsky book I've listened to or read, and cannot emphasise how much everyone should read his books. Mind the spiders, though :p

Fantastic Series!!
