Summary

The most audacious launch of 2023, a historical heist blockbuster .

UPSTAIRS, MADAM IS PLANNING THE PARTY OF THE SEASON.

DOWNSTAIRS, THE SERVANTS ARE PLOTTING THE HEIST OF THE CENTURY.

When Mrs King, housekeeper to the most illustrious home in Mayfair, is suddenly dismissed after years of loyal service, she knows just who to recruit to help her take revenge.

A black-market queen out to settle her scores. An actress desperate for a magnificent part. A seamstress dreaming of a better life. And Mrs King's predecessor, who has been keeping the dark secrets of Park Lane far too long.

Mrs King has an audacious plan in mind, one that will reunite her women in the depths of the house on the night of a magnificent ball - and play out right under the noses of her former employers...

THEY COME FROM NOTHING. BUT THEY'LL LEAVE WITH EVERYTHING.

Dazzling, stylish and wildly entertaining, The Housekeepers lets loose an outlandish alliance of women you'll never forget...

Wow

Wow. Just wow.

I utterly adored this book! I wanted to race through it and savour it slowly in equal measure. It gave me that elusive feeling, the one that only comes around now and again, where you quite literally fall in love with the world and characters in the novel.

It was all so brilliantly brought to life by the narrator, I didn’t want it to end.

Performance annoying

There’s no point in bitching about someone s voice because you can hear before you buy but when the reader pronounces Berkeley Square as if it were in California and knows so little about the period she is reading about that she pronounces 2d (tuppence) as two dee I feel aggrieved.

Sorry to say but mediocre

Wanted to enjoy this, but unfortunately just wasn’t grabbed by the story, writing style or narration… hard to put my finger on what I didn’t like though! Just middle of the road.

Absolutely loved this galloping and highly entertaining tale. The characters were wonderfully engaging and the narration was perfect. I’m going to miss listening now I’ve finished!

Cosy crime rather than thriller

Not sure why this has received a lot of hype. It’s definitely run of the mill cosy crime as opposed to slick, stylish thriller. No real reveals or twists, bit bland.

Take oceans 8 and throw it back 100 years

Not a great fan of historical fiction but then along came this book. What can I say other than I thought it was bloody great.
Loved the characters, loved the reasoning behind everything it was all just masterfully written.

Audiobook was great and the narrator complimented the writing well. Definitely recommend this as a decent listen.

Engaging

This is an engaging read, with very likeable albeit flawed characters, and it made my commute a lot less tedious. I would recommend it!
