Story
The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

Story
My darling son, Sam, is marrying his childhood sweetheart, and I couldn’t be prouder of the man he’s grown into. Walking out on his abusive father all those years ago was the best thing I ever did. And today he stands, tall and handsome, saying "I do" to my dream daughter-in-law. If I hadn’t pushed them together all those years ago, he might never have found a girl as perfect as Lauren. It’s true what they say, mother always knows best.

Story
She bursts into my life like a storm, and nothing is the same again. One by one, I watch as my friends fall under her spell. Only I see that her smiles don’t reach her cold, furious eyes. And when I’m accused of things I didn’t do, when my home is vandalized, I know she’s behind it. But she only lets her mask slip when no one is looking, so if I say anything, I’ll look crazy. So when the baby shower comes around, I’m sitting on a velvet sofa in a posh hotel room, surrounded by balloons. But that afternoon, I finally learn the unbelievable truth. There is no baby....

Story
I thought my sister was happy. I thought what we all thought: that Annie and Dom led perfect lives in a lovely cottage in a quiet village by the sea, with flowers at the front gate and an apple tree in the garden. Everyone knew them: generous, loving Dom, creative, joyful Annie. But I never saw Annie as she sat waiting for Dom well into the night. I didn’t see her smiling through her tears. I didn’t know what the perfect couple was hiding.

Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of The House Swap by Rebecca Fleet, read by Sian Brooke, Adam James, Josh Dylan and Kirsty Dillon.
‘No one lives this way unless they want to hide something.’
When Caroline and Francis receive an offer to house swap, they jump at the chance for a week away from home. After the difficulties of the past few years, they’ve worked hard to rebuild their marriage for their son’s sake; now they want to reconnect as a couple.
On arrival, they find a house that is stark and sinister in its emptiness - it’s hard to imagine what kind of person lives here. Then, gradually, Caroline begins to uncover some signs of life - signs of her life. The flowers in the bathroom or the music in the CD player might seem innocent to her husband, but to her they are anything but. It seems the person they have swapped with is someone she used to know; someone she’s desperate to leave in her past.
But that person is now in her home - and they want to make sure she’ll never forget....
Critic reviews
"Rebecca Fleet has created a perfectly contained cast of credible characters in a story so intriguing that you will be guessing right up to the last page. And it’s beautifully written too. I loved this book." (Liz Nugent, author of Lying in Wait)
"I read The House Swap in one breathless sitting. Dark, smart, sexy, gripping, totally brilliant." (Erin Kelly, author of He Said She Said)
"A fantastic thriller - dead-on domestic noir, full of tension and surprises. I loved it." (Lee Child)

Not bad
Ok, I cant actually decide how much I liked this book. I liked the narration, and the overall premise. The story itself was a bit dull, and some parts I found hard to believe. There are so many tines in the story that it could have all ended with one sentence, but obviously this doesn’t happen. There were times I couldn’t wait to start listening again, then other times I switched it off. Overall it was ok, and I didn’t see the ending coming, with was a good twist. I’d say give it a go if it’s ever a daily deal, but maybe not a credit.

Slow starter but better towards the end
I felt this dragged on a bit long and fell flat in the middle however about three quarters of the way through it got very interesting and I was gripped which moved my rating up. The narratoration was good and easy to listen to.

So close to home
This book made me think of how close real life is to the thrillers I avidly read and listen to. Maybe some critics found that it was not sufficiently "unbelievable", but this is exactly what made it fascinating for me. Characters are human, never totally good or bad. Life is not perfect, but there are moments of bliss, even in the bleakest situations. A great book, with a possibly everyday life story as a plot, very well written and read. My hours driving never felt so short. Thanks.

LOVED EVERY MOMENT. Beautifully Atmospheric!
A heart felt exploration of hearts & minds. Flutters. 1 women and 2 men. What they thought, what they felt, how they irrevocably touched n changed each other. Intentionally & unintentionally. I only wish the sex scenes were less detailed, sometimes I just skipped forward a couple of seconds. But I have loved this book so much nonetheless.
Every narrator was to fall in love with! Even the less likeable characters were saved by the sweet voices of the narrators. I highly recommend the book.

The House Swap
Good narration. Narrator created good ambience but storyline weak. I felt the lesser characters could have been developed more.
