Barbara was 12 when she was admitted to the psychiatric hospital, Aston Hall, in 1971. From a troubled home, she'd hoped she would find sanctuary there. But during her stay, Barbara was systematically drugged and abused by its head physician, Dr Kenneth Milner. Somehow, eventually, she started to campaign for answers. This is a shocking account of how vulnerable children were preyed upon by the doctor entrusted with their care.©2017 Barbara O'Hare (P)2018 W. F. Barbara O’Hare is an amazingly strong woman who has sufferEd extreme rejection, mental, physical and sexual abuse, in her childhood, struggled through her teens and then faced cancer in adult life, not to mention the permanent scars of PTSD. Trauma that will never leave her, but she has to live with and cope everyday. This story is harrowing, but a must read for us all to know acknowledge and learn. It has taken her years of fighting to have her truth to be listened to and on her journey she has come across many others whom have experienced abuse at the hands of doctors, nurses and even nuns. I have listened intently and researched more for personal understanding. The story is narrated by Charlie Sanderson that you could tell felt every word as she relayed the story for the audience, harrowing, but an important read especially with what Barbara actually uncovers and brings into public domain. I’m am so pleased she survived and spoke out and encouraged many other however I believe she may have uncovered more than she could ever have imagined.

What a devastating emotional book that ripped and tore at me as I read it.
What people do to people, especially children, makes me want to join another species.

O'Hare was unbelievably brave to survive the abuse she faced as a child in a psychiatric hospital; one she was sent to seemingly without any reason.
And then as a adult she is amazingly brave to tell her story and fight for justice so much later.

A terrifying story which is hard to stop reading.

devastating and empowering
