Summary

The New English Standard Version translation is founded on the belief that the words of the Bible are the very words of God. Setting itself apart from other translations by sacrificing neither accuracy nor readability, the ESV is an "essentially literal" translation that seeks to duplicate the original texts while taking into account the differences between modern English and the original languages.

Relying on the work of more than 50 Bible scholars, as well as the input of a 60-member, multi-denominational Advisory Council, the translation committee chaired by J.I. Packer realized its goals of word-for-word precision and accuracy, literary excellence and readability, and depth of meaning. Written in language beautiful enough to be used for public reading, clear enough for preaching and devotions, and trustworthy enough for academic study, the ESV sets a new standard, and is truly a Bible for all people.

No, one book at a time.

The Holy Bible: New Testament

I have never heard this version before. I enjoyed listening to it and liked the authority in his voice as he reads the Lords words.

love the book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes this book was very well read by the reader.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Holy Bible?

The story just comes alive. its all about the Bible and not a bunch of music. The story is just very believable. Narrator is very good at telling the stories.

Which scene was your favorite?

All of it but I'm mostly into knowing about Revelations.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Revelation and the story of Ruth

Any additional comments?

Needed to have the books of the Bible labeled

Need to find another audio Bible that has the books of the Bible listed. This audio only has Chapter numbers listed with no reference to what part of the Bible to which they correlate.

Poorly Organized

What would have made The Holy Bible better?

Unfortunately, the producers have arbitrarily created chapters that have nothing to do with the books and chapters of the New Testament. Therefore, the listener is unable to select particular books (Matthew, Mark, I Corinthians etc.) and listen selectively. I wonder if the producers have ever studied or read the Bible. The New Testament is composed of multiple books and epistles (letters) written by various authors. Most readers(listeners) will want to listen to selected chapters of particular books of the New Testament.

What could Various have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Organize the table of contents to reflect the actual books and chapters of the New Testament like every written version.

What didn’t you like about Marquis Laughlin’s performance?

Good performance.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Will not listen to this version due to the lack of organized table of contents.

Disappointed ...

The reader used a stereotypical "God" voice which sounded angry and self-righteous. I found this to be very distracting and also contrary to the way that Jesus Christ is usually portrayed.

easy to listen to flows through the bible

Would you listen to The Holy Bible again? Why?

The Bible is our guide to salvation through Jesus Christ

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Holy Bible?

That while I was dead in my sin and seperated from God that Christ died for me

Which scene was your favorite?

knowing that Jesus made the way for men to be saved

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Gods love and grace toward man in that he gave his son Jesus to pay for mans sin

Any additional comments?

Jesus is the Christ he is God in the flesh he was crucified and then has risen from the dead. There is no other name under heaven that you can be saved but Jesus Christ.
