Story
If you've never read a Repairman Jack novel, this is the place to begin. It's 1990. A twenty-one-year-old named Jack has dropped out of college, leaving his old life behind to build a new one in New York City. Manhattan's rough edges are jagged enough to shred any unwary newcomer, but perhaps not one who is determined to stay off the grid, at any cost, in the busiest metropolis on earth. And to do so, he'll have to take jobs of a less than legal nature.

Centered around an obscure group of malcontents intent on creating a terrible explosion in New York City in 1993, Fear City shows the final stages of young Jack becoming Repairman Jack. It is a dark and terrible story, full of plots and needless mayhem, with secret agents, a freelance torturer, a secret society as old as human history, love, death, and a very bleak triumph.

A good old-fashioned read

Summary
Repairman Jack doesn’t believe a house can be haunted. But he’s about to change that tune… In the borough of Queens, just across the river from Manhattan, two clever practitioners of spiritualist hocus-pocus use high-tech tricks to dupe their marks. Perhaps they’re too good: they’ve lured too many clients from other mediums and are now under attack. Unable to go to the police for fear of exposing their own scams, they hire Repairman Jack to fix their problem.
Jack takes the job, figuring he’ll straighten out the situation through one of his favorite pastimes: scamming a scammer. But soon he learns that this fix-it job may involve more than just professional jealousies. A sudden earthquake and a tortured scream mark the awakening of something in Menelaus Manor, something that used to be someone - an entity full of rage that was brought back for a specific purpose. But this entity has an agenda of its own....

These are amazing. Where's this guy been hiding.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. I'm not sure how I came across F.Paul Wilson, but I'm so glad I did. I love it when I find a good - no great - author & he turns out to have written 12 books in one series. I love Repairman Jack & I love the combination of fiction/supernatural/thriller which are my faves & I LOVE the fact that there are TWELVE books to read. I'm getting a bit worried though as I'm up to to book 6. Only 6 more to go. Then, god willing, with a bit of luck, ill find another great series
What other book might you compare The Haunted Air to and why?
He can easily keep up with Dean Koonz & Stephen King & that's saying something. He perhaps better than Peter Straub.
What about Christopher Price’s performance did you like?
He's very good although he doesn't change his voice much like some readers, you still get the different characters & the tension is there when needed.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Neither -I just loved it. An hour before a book is due to finish, I down load the next & I'm ready to start the next book when the Audible voice over at the end of the book starts. I'm ready to start the next book straight away.
Any additional comments?
I've said it all. These are must-read books. I've missed my favorite tv shows cause I just can't stop listening.

Decent story, a little "wack" in parts
Another easy to digest story, I enjoyed it.
With this one, however, both the author and the narrator have teamed up, in a sense, to give you a hilarious interpretation of how some African American characters speak. I cringed with a chuckle every time "word up", "scrub", or "wack" was uttered by the corny narrator. You may enjoy that, too - I... did?

My favorite repairman jack!
Wilson is growing in skill. Others Amy say the plot is contrived and too well placed to be reality. But the addition of "no coincidences" rules that out. Plenty of plot twists. And very much enjoy the differing flavor of this book compared to his previous works in this series. Very well orated as well. All around great title.
