About this listen

Swept off your feet and into a nightmare . . .

A powerful blend of love story, betrayal and obsession, The Guardian is written with electrifying intensity, playing with your emotions at every turn.

Widowed at a young age, Julie understands the pain that comes with love and has avoided romance for a long time. As she eases herself back into the dating scene, her eye is caught by the darkly sophisticated Richard, as he begins a passionate pursuit of her affections. But she is still confused by her feelings for best friend Mike: funny, loyal, but definitely not sophisticated.

A seemingly innocent choice sets off a deadly chain of events that leaves Julie fighting for her life, as jealousy simmers into murderous desire.©2003 Nicholas Sparks

I don’t think there’s been a sparks book I’ve not enjoyed, such a great writer, I’ve physically read this book on kindle, now a few years later re enjoyed listening to it on here, highly recommend

Great story, tissues needed at the end

Very different from his usual books but still a great read! If you like Nicholas's other books I'd recommend!

Nail biting read!

For some reason my impression of Nicholas Sparks books was that they're 'feelgood'. I've only ever seen a couple of films, so got the wrong idea, I think. I was looking for something light, romantic, and uplifting. I realise now that I made the wrong choice and should have done more research. This is clearly a good read, well-written, with realistic characters and the romance done nicely. But this story should have had trigger warnings. So dark!! I was in tears at the end, especially having literally two weeks ago gone through a similar heart-rending loss – I'd never have picked this book if I'd known. I think it might be a while before I dare to try another Nicholas Sparks, which is such a shame as I thought I'd found another author whose back-list I could binge on Audible.

Good story, but totally heart-rending.

the best so far by Nicholas Sparks

I normally love a Nicholas Sparks novel. But unfortunately this was corny, predictable and fairly boring. Ah well.

Not Nicholas Sparks’ best
