Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

This practical and inspirational guide to healing from the best-selling author of The Choice shows us how to release your self-limiting beliefs and embrace your potential.

The prison is in your mind. The key is in your pocket.

In the end, it's not what happens to us that matters most - it's what we choose to do with it. We all face suffering - sadness, loss, despair, fear, anxiety, failure. But we also have a choice; to give in and give up in the face of trauma or difficulties or to live every moment as a gift.

Celebrated therapist and Holocaust survivor Dr Edith Eger provides a hands-on guide that gently encourages us to change the imprisoning thoughts and destructive behaviours that may be holding us back. Accompanied by stories from Eger's own life and the lives of her patients her empowering lessons help you to see your darkest moments as your greatest teachers and find freedom through the strength that lies within.

Remarkable

I read the choice last year and when I saw Edith Eger had released another book, I decided to try it on audible. This book is a must read or a must listen. It’s delivered fantastically on audible, when I sometimes struggle with the delivery of books on audible. I’ve read a number of “self help” books in my time and have been classed as having depression from a very young age and Edith Eger’s books speak to me in a way that others do not!

Another Fantastic Book from Edith Eger

I will keep it simple - if you want a book that tells you how to live life and transcend the most horrific thing that can happen to you this is it. Along with The Choice it will change how you view life. This incredible woman has so much wisdom to impart . Thank you Dr.Eger for this gift

you can't read this without growing as a person

Rarely can I commit to such a book and see it through to the end without feeling bored. This book however, brilliant! The woman is one of a kind and im grateful to have had her insight and love. Felt like my granny was back except more wise, patient and insightful. A must read

Powerful and moving

Having read the Choice I was compelled to read Edith Eger’s The gift. So moved by the frankness depth and subsequent beauty of the outcomes of such terrible adversity in the Choice, The gift was a must. It is so easy to read, so relatable and honest. It has given me a new perspective on approaching my daughter who lives with an eating disorder. However this book is for anyone who has experienced trauma or not, who wants to live a life guided from within themselves, not external factors or views of others; who want to be free from ongoing challenges they can’t move on from, or just want to learn to ‘be’. Thank you Edith Eger for entering my life, you are a treasure I will return to again and again.

Excellently written, great narration

Loved it. It is an excellent reminder to connect all parts of ourselves in to our own unique story. The narrator is perfect. The message is important and timeless.
