Summary

With the third temple restored, Ruwen must now prevent an imminent invasion of the southern border.

But Ruwen’s new city is in shambles. If he doesn’t quickly fortify the walls and revive an army capable of stopping his enemies, he has no chance of surviving the coming onslaught.

Running out of time and facing a lack of resources, Ruwen is forced to bargain for allies and take an unwanted new class. He fears the dire situation makes these preparations pointless, and his failure will doom the entire country.

As the war begins, he learns a devastating lesson: Uru isn’t the only god peering into the future, and his grim circumstances turn hopeless.

Overshadowing everything is the fourth secret, and the dreadful fact it reveals makes Ruwen consider forsaking his destiny.

Because with a future this bleak, dying now might be his best option.

Another Great Book!!

I absolutely love the DA series and have been following it since I stumbled onto it on Kindle and it has never let me down. Book 4 is filled with loot, questing, and secrets revealed. I enjoyed every moment of it and can't wait for book 5! Travis Baldree did another excellent job narrating and I hope he continues to do the next.

Interesting developments in this story and some fun teasers for the next book. I only wish it was already available.

4th book but maybe the best

all the books are good, but this one is full of action and a fun twist at the end. I've enjoyed all the books, but this one seems a little more polished.

A worthy addition to the series

A. F. Kay crafts another thrilling continuation to the series. Along with exciting battles and quest advancements, the author moves the story forward in unpredictable manners. He also introduces new and interesting characters, both protagonists and antagonists while doing so. With both sides having revival chambers, there's a similar feel to it as with B.V. Larson's most excellent Unydying Mercenaries series, at least as far as being able to fight another day after falling.

As with my previous review, I reluctantly dropped it one star due to the plethora of lengthy stats recitals that act as skip-over bait so as to get to the next story advancement.

As with the previous review, while the abundant stat recitals were annoying, they didn't significantly detract from the enjoyment of the story itself.

Travis Baldree continues to put on display his skill as a top-tier narrator.

....this author...smh

this author has the rare talent to get on the razor edge..I mean down to the micron of pissing me off with some stupid choice main character might make..then pulling an 180, making the epicness sweeter.
