About this listen

My father’s the president and my brother’s the golden boy, which leaves me the black sheep; the son who never wanted to be here at all.

The white house is my gilded cage, and the secret service are my prison guards. I'm nearly twenty and nothing about my life is normal.

The only thing giving me life and any motivation to get out of bed is the way he looks at me. The stolen glances across the West Wing. Heated gazes in the private dining room.

He's my father's best friend, which isn't even the worst part, he's also the vice president. Utterly off limits and I can't bring myself to care. Can't bring myself to stop encouraging his flirting, dreaming, and hoping he won't be able to resist me forever.

Story: I love age gap stories so picking this one up was a no brainer, especially with the MCs' backgrounds and circumstances. The author chose a very intense single POV narration that heavily dictated the mood of the story. I loved how unrepentant Liam was and how his struggles with depression were depicted. Matt is a bit of an enigma for me since we don't get much of his POV (epilogue only) and I'd love to see more of the story from his point of view. In age gap stories especially the juxtaposition of both MCs brings a lot to the table.
Nevertheless, it's a very enjoyable father's best friend / best friend's son story with a very well executed White House twist!
Narration: Great job from the narrator. I missed some more noticeable emotion in the more tense / argumentative scenes, but it was a small portion of the story luckily.
