About this listen

The unforgettable story of one woman's perilous journey to save,

The Forbidden.

Rebaa's adopted tribe lies slaughtered behind her. Rebaa's lover, Juran, lays down his life for hers, and now she must use all of her cunning and extraordinary powers to survive the inhospitable wilderness alone, ensuring that Juran's sacrifice was not in vain.

But Rebaa's battle for survival has only just begun...

Hunted by savage predators and more terrifying still, the nightmarish Eldrax, a murderous chieftain who will stop at nothing to possess Rebaa's mysterious powers for his own, her very existence becomes a life-or-death chase in the pursuit and quest to reach the one place that surely offers salvation and a safe haven she can call home. But what haven could possibly exist for one who bears The Forbidden?

Will Rebaa find her salvation, or will crushing loss, hardship, and the burden of carrying The Forbidden first destroy her from the inside out?

Includes a bonus story,

Forbidden Son.

Very engaging story line, great character development and a good pace (at no point does it get boring or slow). I ordered book 2 before I was even finished with book 1. I bought this book because it was recommended after having listened to the whole collection of The Clan of the Cave Bear. While this may have been a source of inspiration for The Ancestors Saga, it is a different kind of story, less descriptive of the day to day activities and ways of life of the paleolithic and more focused on the human relations and struggles between different tribes. It doesn't pretend to be realistic, but at the core of it I think it very much is, whether or not you overlook the small element of fantasy that characterises the Ninkuraaja people. I found it very entertaining, engaging and clever (the names of the different tribes give you a clue of what species they are). I'm looking forward to the rest of the saga.

Brilliant book

What a great story maybe not quite as thorough as Clan if the Cave Bear but still very good. I will read them all off to get the next one.

Loved it

I saw this reccomended as a story to read if you enjoyed The Clan of the Cave Bear series (which i had enormously). This fell short severely. I can see the comparison-ish in story line but there was no meat here to enjoy, no imaginative descriptions, no depth of characters.
The narration I thought too 'modern' for the text.
A little disappointed but I persevered to find out how it would come together/end. The bonus novella at the end I found boring.

Adequate

i was hooked pretty much from the start and currently listening to the next in the series.

Gripping

I was excited to listen to this after seeing it recommended to fans of ‘Clan of the Cave Bear’. I am afraid that it falls way short. The characters lack depth, and the story seemed to lurch from one stage to another. I wanted to like Reba, but there was something missing. Overall the book left me not interested in what happens next, so I will not be listening to the rest in the series.
