Summary

Murder at the Mall of America

When a magician is murdered in the midst of his act at the Mall of America, Eli Marks is asked to step in and take over the daily shows - while also keeping his eyes and ears open for clues about this bizarre homicide.

As Eli combs the maze-like corridors beneath the Mall of America's massive amusement park looking for leads, he also struggles to learn and perform an entirely new magic act. Meanwhile, the longtime watering hole for Uncle Harry and his Mystics pals is closing, so in addition to the murder investigation and the new act, Eli must help the grumpy (and picky) seniors find a suitable new hangout.

Best in series thus far

Although the author states that he is not a magician, he obviously has researched the classic illusions and techniques. The characters are well-developed and interesting and are people in whom you can become invested. ALL the books in this series are excellent, however this one is my favorite. Sure, some situations are far from likely to occur, but shake out your believe-a-tron and just go with it.

Perfect narration for a charming, funny mystery.

So often you have a great story with poor narration, or great narration with a poor story, but both are winners in this case. I look forward to exploring the rest of this series.

Narrator is a little distracting

I kept waiting for the narrator to say “With a name like Smuckers, it has to be good.” I know, that’s Mason Adams. All of the characters he reads for has the same accent, just different tones.

The story was pretty good. I’ve been to the MOA. It is a city under a roof.

5 stars

This is a well developed and fun cozy mystery. Eli always manages to get into the thick of things. I love the parts about the magic show and the relationship between Eli and his uncle. The mystery is well plotted and entertaining. I look forward to the next book.

The best of the series!

I’ve listened to all the books in this series, and this one was my favorite! It felt like it held more adventure, more fun characters & more magic! If you’re a fan of cozy mysteries & magic, you will adore this series. It’s charming, it’s lots of fun, and it contains so many behind the scenes of magic!
