if you think the Hollywood of today is dirty like the falling down sign. Then boy read this book about old Hollywood it's a brilliant listen

I think that this is a really accurate description of Hollywood back In the day!I actually met Freddy o in Cannes in the late 80s,no question that he was ahard boiled ex cop ,extremely likeable,I also met James Ellroy at a book signing In Miami Years ago,Ellroys version of events is different to say the least,and having met Freddy O in person I would say,that Ellroy has completely misrepresented him!!

As someone who has a keen interest in anything old Hollywood, mobsters, Kennedys and Marilyn I could not wait to begin listening to the book. It is a little slow in the beginning, not helped by the narrator, who at times sounded bored and fed up with the story. I had to force myself to keep going until it gripped me and his voice didn't bother me as much anymore. Fred Otashs story is quite fascinating, I learned so much about the people I have watched on screen for years, that I had not previously known. Unfortunately, the crown jewel of the story, I am talking about Marilyn of course, never gives you the satisfaction that is teased throughout the body of the book. If Mr Otash knew definitively what happened on that fateful day, it is never fully shared with the listener. Overall, I enjoyed the book very much and would recommend it to anyone with the same interests described at the beginning of this review. Nothing ground breaking about Marilyn but interesting stories about lots of other famous people from that time.
