Summary

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Unless you’re Alfhild Daemonne that is! Can’t a witch ever catch a break? Will there ever be a crisis free and merry Christmas at Whittle Inn?

Probably not. That’s what makes life wonky after all!

As warm and satisfying as mulled wine, this Wonky Inn Christmas Cozy Mystery Collection draws together the first three previously published paranormal Christmas specials in one volume.

The Witch Who Killed Christmas (Christmas Special First Published 2018)

An unexpected snowmageddon threatens to derail Christmas at Alfhild Daemonne’s inn. When Alf receives information that there may be an ulterior reason for the weather anomaly, she journeys deep into the forest in search of a witch with an attitude problem. Can Alf save Christmas at Wonky Inn? Or will one mean old witch kill Christmas for everyone?

Witching in a Wonky Winterland (Christmas Special First Published 2019)

Coughs and sneezes spread diseases! Alf’s been looking forward to the Yule time festivities, but wouldn’t you know it, the wattle-and-daub walls of her ancient wonky inn are ringing to the sound, not of sleigh bells, but of sick ghosts. Who knew ghosts could catch the flu?

O Witchy Town of Whittlecombe (Christmas Special First Published 2020)

Whittlecombe has fallen eerily silent. Sleet descends as the residents sink into a deep and dreamless sleep. All except for Alf.

She recognises a horrible hex when she sees one. But who has cursed the village and why? And what will it take to undo it? Can our Alfie wake her friends? And, most importantly, will anybody wake up in time to prepare figgy pudding?

Listener received this title free

I enjoyed this three book box set. The author has combined three very different stories together to bring the listener a Christmas witch adventure. Unusual for cozy mystery books, only one book contains a dead body, instead Alfhild finds herself having to save her Christmas plans from disasters of a different kind. I liked the Characters, who are a nice mix of witches, ghosts, pixies, reindeer, monkeys and dogs.

The Witch Who Killed Christmas
This was a novella and not as long as the other stories in the set, it was also my least favourite but that was only because it made me cry but I cry at Disney films so don't let that put you off.
When a winter storm threatens to ruin her Christmas plans Alfhild Daemonne leaves the comfort of her inn in search of a reclusive witch. Could the witch be responsible for the cold front and if so can Alfhild get the Christmas plans on track?

Witching in a Wonky Winterland
There was a lot going on in this story with sick ghosts, a dead body and a monster in the woods. I was surprised with the ending but this one felt the most Christmases of the set.
When the dead body of one of the guest is found in the woods, the last thing Alf needs is to be short staffed. Unfortunately with all the ghost in the inn going down with colds it doesn't give her much time to investigate. Especially as the town is raising there pitch forks and getting ready to storm the woods looking for a dangerous monster with glowing eye. Could that be the cause for the dead woman or is Alf right and everybody is jumping to conclusions. And how can she help the ghost in her care? Alf has her hands full in this Christmastime adventure.

O Witchy Town of Whittlecombe
This one was my favourite. I loved the plot line behind this story, although I did think it was pretty obvious who was responsible for the big sleep but I still enjoyed the journey getting there.
When Alf opens up a mystery box it puts everybody else in a deep sleep, leaving her running around trying to find the cure. When Alf's own boyfriend seems to be the entered target, she has to gather the woman who played a part in his life in the hopes that they can wake him up and hopefully everybody else.
I liked the narrator. She kept the story entertaining and worked her own magic to provide fun voices for the characters.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
