Summary

The second instalment in the best-selling Obernewtyn series.

Since their takeover of Obernewtyn, the secret community of Misfits has flourished, protected by their remoteness. Led by Elspeth Gordie, whose extraordinary powers set her apart even among her Misfit friends, an expedition sets out to rescue a powerful Misfit in a distant part of the Land.

Only she knows the enormity of their task. But for her there is yet another challenge, as she must fulfil her vow to find and dismantle the dormant death weapons left by the Beforetimers.

Brilliant second book

This is book 2 in the Obernewtyn series and it is highly recommended that you read book 1 first as this carries on from it without much introduction.

The book is set two years after the end of book 1 with elspeth having to visit the downlands to rescue a misfit.

The book itself is a really good read and the audio book is brilliantly narrated by the author isobelle herself

A quest with mind talents.

This was a really fun listen. It's classic YA distopian fantasy, Elspeth is on a quest to save her band of talented Misfits. It has likeable characters, an absorbing plot and the author does a good job of the narration. This was a favorite book of mine as a teenager and I really enjoyed revisiting it as an audiobook.
