Their dream holiday is about to turn into a nightmare...

When upscale travel agent Allegra is offered a complimentary stay for her extended family at a new, high-end woodland retreat, she's delighted to discover it has everything you could ask for: luxury tree house accommodation, activities for the kids, spa treatments, fine dining - what could be more relaxing?

But relationships within the group are fraught, and an impromptu family celebration seems only to worsen matters. Frustrated with her family, and taken for granted by her husband for years, Allegra forms an unexpected bond with someone new, and things begin to go wrong...

Resentments grow and tensions rise, it seems the family's problems might run deeper than anyone suspected. When the warning signs become dangerous, the family realise they haven't been asking the right questions: how did they really come to be here? And which of them won't be going home?

A tense holiday thriller, The Family Break is perfect for fans of T. M. Logan.

Tense, exiting and a great concept. I was riveted from the off. I’ve read the authors first two novels, and thoroughly enjoyed them, but The Family Break has to be her standout book. Really, really good. Looking forward to the next one.

Ruth Irons’ novel gripped me from the very first page.

Wonderful thriller - brilliantly written by Ruth, and wonderfully read by Emer. Ruth really knows how to hook you in with her descriptions of the various characters who you instantly loathe or love. Thank you Ruth for another cracking book.

What a cracker!

I found this book easy to listen to and to imagine. I enjoyed the storyline, and the narrator was good, except when it came to the voices of Graham and Peregrine. Overall a very enjoyable book . I was hoping for another Ruth Irons book, as I have now listened to them all.

well written

Nothing really happens and just didn’t keep me engaged. I’ve really loved previous books though.

Very dull

Having read Ruth Iron’s previous two novels, I had high expectations, however, this was not a page turner unfortunately. I can only liken it to something you might read in a Women’s Weekly magazine! The storyline was bland and the characters were not engaging. The narration of the male characters, Graham and Peregrine were over the top posh! They really did grate on me throughout. Pretty much guessed the twist before the end. Sorry, Ruth, not for me!
