About this listen

Every victory comes at a cost.

The trail has gone cold. For months now, Emery Hazard and John-Henry Somerset have been trying to find something—anything—that might help them uncover the truth about the criminal organization operating out of the Cottonmouth Club. But every lead has turned out to be a dead end, and every step forward has cost them two steps back.

Until, one night, John-Henry is arrested for a terrible crime.

As their friends gather again in Wahredua, Emery and John-Henry must rush to prove John-Henry's innocence. The falsified evidence used to implicate him provides them with fresh clues, but as the charges against John-Henry ripple out into the community, they find themselves without their usual resources, and facing new and unexpected opposition.

Putting an end to this evil, they discover, might be possible.

All it will cost them is everything.

I am so in love with this world Ashe has created and will never stop reading everything in it. This book was everything I wanted and so much more. Throughout this series, a lot of emphasis was put on Emery and his relationship with all the different couples. So I was so pleasantly surprised that this really felt like a John-Henry story! Their relationship is 100% solid and we get some really great romantic moments peeking through (as well as the amazing humor that make this couple one of the best ever). The mystery is finally solved after so many twists and turns, but the true light was the amazing friendships that were built throughout the series. John-Henry has always put great value in friendships, but you really get to see the true brotherhood here and it is beautiful. Tristan James wrapping this whole series up was absolute perfection. Nobody else could've done it so well.

A wild roller coaster ending better in audio!

Maybe the sign of a fabulous book isn’t when you can’t put it down but when you have to keep stopping yourself from listening so it lasts as long as possible… then the inevitability of reaching its destination is a sharp yet satisfying conclusion.

Greg - can we please know that we’ll keep revisiting Emery and JH? And of course the rest of the ‘family’?

Powerful great storytelling

Hang on to your seat, you’re in for a bumpy ride. Because, let’s be brutally honest – when you put Jon-Henry, Emery, Tean, Jem, Theo, Auggie, North, and Shaw in a room together – you know it’s going to be fricking chaos.

Shaw is…endearing. North has my absolute sympathy, although he’s a handful as well. In comparison to those two, Auggie, Theo, and Tean are angels. Jem is…well, Jem. These six make great sidekicks for Jon-Henry and Emery’s latest adventure.

In all seriousness, when Jon-Henry is arrested for possessing child pornography, you know this is about to get real. Of course it’s not his, but he’s still under suspicion and no longer an active police officer. That computer tampering, along with some other weird stuff having to do with trafficking, has JH and Re taking matters into their own hands. Add their friends and it’s generalized chaos.

I don’t want to give too much away. Just…yeah, vintage Gregory Ashe. Violence, mayhem, humor, and kids with a cute dog. I loved the story, I loved the series, and if this is the end, it went out with a bang.

Gotta mention Tristan James. Each couple has a different narrator associated with them and I was thrilled to see Tristan returning to helm Emery and Jon-Henry’s book. He’s superb and I loved everything about this audio. You have to grab both it and the entire series.

A fitting end

This book is perfection ❤️ masterpiece really
John’s character arc is one of the most incredible I’ve ever read. This book really puts him through the wringer, it’s so heartbreaking and powerful and makes JH rethink all his life, his perception of self and his relationships. The locker room scene and the Letterman jacket scene were so gut wrenching and beautiful, all barriers down, our boys stripped out and laid bare. Their love is epic indeed. The perfect end to this outstanding crossover series. Well done Gregory, you are one of a kind ❤️

It's the last book in the Iron on Iron series. And what an ending!

In this book, the main characters are Somerset and Hazard. John is accused of an awful crime and Hazard will help him solve this situation. This whole ordeal turns Somerset's life upside down, plaguing him with self-doubt and ghosts from the past. But all the other characters are there, in one way or another, to help get to the bottom of this mystery.

It was a delight to read another book by this author, where the sometimes dark plot is well thought out and developed. It keeps the reader always hooked till the last sentence.

Awesome final chapter of the series
